About the Role
As an Instructor at Simplilearn, you'll scale your impact as a Data Science professional by training the next generation of professionals. You'll create dynamic learning experiences through deployment of instructional best practices that are student-centered and designed to meet the needs of adult learners. You'll facilitate lessons from the curriculum and will serve as subject matter expert to students. You will support students through exercises designed to build knowledge and skills and promote grit, problem-solving, and a collaborative learning community. Ultimately, you will prepare students for the next chapter in their lives as they seek employment in the field of Data Science.
This is a part-time, remote role. Classes are delivered synchronously and are 100% online. A cohort runs for around 5–7 months of instruction. The total weekly part-time commitment is expected to be 8–12 hours.
Working Hours
- Weekdays: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM CST
- Weekends: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST
Class Timing Details
- Weekend sessions: 6–8 hours of delivery per week
- Weekday sessions: 9–12 hours of delivery per week
- 1 prep hour per session for the first cohort; 0.5 prep hour per session for future cohorts
- If content is revamped, prep can be 1 hour/session for the first batch and 0.5 hour/session for future batches
- Note: Feedback communication and general connect time are not billable. Prep hours can be billed only for actual scheduled teaching hours (induction sessions excluded).
Responsibilities
- Create a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment
- Teach select lessons in accordance with learning objectives and fidelity to session plans provided by Simplilearn
- Employ strategies known to meet the needs of adult learners, including leveraging tech tools, instructional best practices, and connecting content to the real world by sharing industry insights and professional experiences
- Manage regular communication with students to align on progress, expectations, celebrate milestones, and address concern areas
- Provide individualized student support during synchronous class sessions and outside class via office hours and asynchronous communication
- Evaluate student performance and progression toward competencies based on course deliverables and rubrics
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students in the cohort
- Assist in the management of Performance Action Plans for students who need additional support
- Serve as a role model for students and as an ambassador for the Simplilearn brand
- Exhibit professionalism and an ethical, empathetic approach when engaging with staff, students, and the public
- Promote student retention and amplify satisfaction by creating a positive classroom culture and leveraging effective interventions
- Encourage teamwork and seek feedback for continuous improvement
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning
- Working knowledge of Applied Data Science with Python
- Good knowledge of Machine Learning
- Good knowledge of Deep Learning with Keras and TensorFlow
- A passion for teaching and ability to explain complex technical concepts
- A history of choosing a path of integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation
The expected compensation for candidates from the United States is $50–$55 per hour for candidates who fulfill the qualifications for the role. Candidates whose qualifications exceed those listed are encouraged to apply as well. All final offers will be based on the candidate's unique experience and skillset, and not all candidates will qualify for the top of the salary range.
