Career & Market Insight

High-stakes, high-autonomy product role at a fast-growing HR-tech unicorn. This Senior PM position sits at the intersection of fintech compliance, fraud prevention, and AI-driven automation — one of the hottest skill clusters in the 2024–2025 market. Owning credit risk, KYB/AML, and fraud detection across a global platform is exceptional résumé material.

Compensation context: The $149,750–$168,500 range is competitive for a Senior PM in fintech. In the US, Senior PM roles in fintech average $160,000–$185,000 total cash (excluding equity). Remote's geo-adjusted model means candidates outside expensive US metros may receive less, but the equity (stock options) can close gaps significantly.

Skills this role develops:

  • AI/ML applied to risk and compliance — extremely marketable in 2025
  • Proficiency in Cursor/Claude Code (coding PMs are increasingly sought-after)
  • Cross-functional leadership across legal, treasury, and compliance
  • Platform product thinking — builds toward CPO or VP Product career paths

Green flags:

  • Async-first culture with documented work-life balance emphasis
  • Direct line to Director of Product and exposure to CTO in interviews
  • 7-stage interview process signals rigor but also investment in cultural fit
  • 16-week parental leave is above average globally

Watch for: The 7-step interview process (including CTO interview) is long and demanding. The requirement for hands-on coding proficiency (Cursor/Claude Code) is non-negotiable and may surprise traditional PMs — this is genuinely a hybrid PM+builder role.

What This Job Can Offer You

This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as a Senior Product Manager, Fraud and Compliance, joining the Fintech area.

As Remote grows and handles larger transaction volumes across countries, so does our exposure to fraud, credit risk, and compliance risk. This role owns the systems and strategies that protect Remote and its customers — from onboarding verification and screening, to credit risk assessment and reserve management, to fraud detection and enforcement across the full customer lifecycle.

You'll drive the evolution of our risk and compliance capabilities from reactive, rule-based controls toward proactive, automated systems that identify risk signals early and scale without proportional increases in manual effort. This is a high-autonomy, high-stakes role. You'll report to the Director of Product and work closely with Risk, Compliance, Treasury, Legal, Collections, and Engineering.

What You Bring

  • Proficiency in Cursor and/or Claude Code is required. You must be able to autonomously build, debug, and ship functional code and prototypes — not just write specs.
  • AI fluency. You have a point of view on how AI and automation can transform risk operations — from pattern detection to anomaly scoring to compliance workflows.
  • Seasoned Product Manager with a track record on platform, API, or products for operational teams.
  • Platform mindset. You build systems others can extend. Scalability means growing the business without proportional increases in manual work or complexity.
  • Strong UX sensibilities. Risk and compliance tooling doesn't have to be painful. You care about the admin experience as much as the customer-facing one.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills. You partner effectively with compliance, engineering, design, treasury, and legal — and you lead by example on async workflows.
  • Data-driven decision-making. Comfortable querying data and working with visualisation tools, you let insights drive your prioritisation.
  • Fast learner with a growth mindset. You're humble, eager to learn, and get up to speed quickly in new territory, then pass on what you pick up so the whole team levels up.
  • Great judgment — making strategic (what to prioritize) and tactical (feature scope) decisions.
  • Language: Business-level proficiency writing and speaking English.
  • Domain advantage (nice to have): Experience with risk/compliance platforms and third-party screening or fraud detection tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own credit risk assessment and reserve management: Drive the strategy for how Remote evaluates, scores, and mitigates credit risk. Evolve the underlying models and tooling to be smarter, faster, and more automated over time.
  • Fraud detection and prevention: Own fraud controls, freeze mechanisms, and dispute workflows. Build proactive strategies that detect and prevent fraud — not just react to it.
  • Compliance automation: Own end-to-end onboarding compliance — KYB verification, AML screening, and background checks. Drive automation to reduce manual effort while maintaining regulatory defensibility.
  • Build flexible, platform-oriented systems: Prefer solutions that operations teams can configure and extend without engineering involvement. Remove engineering as a bottleneck for responding to new risk and compliance patterns.
  • Collections and enforcement: Partner with Collections and Treasury on risk reserves, payment blocks, and enforcement actions. Own the admin and customer-facing surfaces that support this.
  • Ship iteratively at pace: Lead a product team delivering high throughput and high ROI. Advance key KPIs around automation rates, false-positive reduction, and risk accuracy.
  • Stakeholder management across risk, ops, and finance. Translate complex risk trade-offs into clear product decisions. Align with Compliance Operations, Treasury, Legal, and senior leadership.
