Career & Market Insight

This is a high-impact, quota-carrying specialist sales role at Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK), a publicly traded cybersecurity and data resilience company. The NCD Product Line Sales Specialist sits at a compelling intersection of storage infrastructure sales and cybersecurity — two of the fastest-growing segments in enterprise tech.

Compensation context: No salary is listed, but overlay specialist roles at public enterprise software companies with quota responsibility typically range from $180K–$280K OTE in the US, with significant commission upside tied to quota performance. Rubrik's public company status adds RSU equity as a likely component.

Skills you'll build:

  • Deep technical fluency in NAS/unstructured data architectures (NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerScale, Qumulo, VAST)
  • Enterprise security and ransomware resilience narrative selling
  • Complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycle management (IT, Security, C-suite)
  • Overlay/specialist motion alongside core AE teams — a transferable enterprise sales muscle

Career trajectory: Specialist roles like this are strong launchpads into Regional Sales Director or Product GTM leadership. The NAS/unstructured data space is heating up as AI workloads generate massive file data growth, making this expertise increasingly valuable.

Green flags: Rubrik is a NYSE-listed company with a clear AI + security narrative, giving this role strong market momentum. The requirement for genuine technical depth means this role rewards subject matter experts, not generalist sellers.

Watch for: Overlay roles can face internal friction over deal credit and territory ownership — understanding the comp plan's rules of engagement with core AEs will be critical before accepting.

Headquarters: Remote Central US

About the Team & Role

Rubrik's Product Line Sales organization drives focused growth across Rubrik's specialized workloads, including our Unstructured data protection and security portfolio. This team partners closely with core Account Executives, Sales Engineers, and Customer Success to bring deep product and technical expertise into every Unstructured opportunity — from first conversation through technical validation to close.

We're hiring an NCD Product Line Sales Specialist to own and accelerate Rubrik's Unstructured data protection business within a defined territory. This is a highly technical, quota-carrying overlay role: you'll be the subject-matter expert who can go deep on NAS storage architectures, file-generating applications, backup and recovery mechanics, and the security behind protecting these growing assets — and use that fluency to win deals against competitive point solutions. The ideal candidate has sold in this exact space before, at a company like NetApp, Dell, Qumulo, Vast, EverPure, Komprise, Superna, etc.

What You'll Do

  • Own the NCD product line number: partner with core Account Executives to identify, qualify, and close NCD data protection and security opportunities across net-new and existing accounts.
  • Lead with technical credibility: articulate Rubrik's NCD architecture, security posture, and the gaps in storage native shared snapshot protection in a way that resonates with both technical and business buyers.
  • Drive technical discovery and validation: run or co-lead discovery calls, demos, and proof-of-concept engagements for NCD.
  • Win competitive deals: build and defend positioning against competition or "do-nothing", translating technical differentiation into business value.
  • Build territory and account plans: develop a coverage strategy in partnership with core sales, SE, and channel teams to maximize NCD attach and expansion within the install base.
  • Engage multiple stakeholders: present to IT administrators, security and compliance teams, and executive economic buyers, tailoring the message to each audience.
  • Forecast with discipline: maintain accurate pipeline and forecast data in Salesforce and participate in regular business reviews.
  • Stay current: maintain deep knowledge of Rubrik's NCD roadmap, storage ecosystems, and the competitive landscape.

Experience You'll Need

  • Storage sales experience: 3+ years of quota-carrying sales experience selling storage infrastructure (file preferred) with a deep understanding of these technologies.
  • Directly relevant background: experience at a NAS or file storage vendor such as NetApp, Dell, Qumulo, or VAST (or a comparable company like Komprise, Superna, or EverPure) is strongly preferred.
  • Genuine technical depth: comfortable discussing NAS architectures (NetApp ONTAP, Dell PowerScale/Isilon, Qumulo, VAST), SMB/NFS protocols, snapshots and replication, file-generating applications, and ransomware and compliance requirements for unstructured data without relying solely on a Sales Engineer.
  • Proven technical selling motion: a track record of running or co-leading technical discovery, sizing, and proof-of-concept engagements for storage or data protection solutions, not just handing off to a technical resource.
  • Consultative approach: comfortable navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles across storage and infrastructure teams, security, and executive buyers in mid-market and enterprise accounts.
  • Overlay/specialist experience: prior success working in a platform-selling model alongside core Account Executives, Sales Engineers, and Customer Success.
  • Track record: consistent history of quota attainment and strong pipeline generation.
  • Education: bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on familiarity with enterprise NAS platforms, data management or tiering tools, and backup and recovery workflows for large unstructured data sets.
  • Experience selling a data security or resiliency platform that spans on-premises, cloud, and SaaS workloads.
  • Existing relationships with storage, infrastructure, security, or compliance buyers in target accounts.
