National Account Manager – B2B Sales Career at Cydcor in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This National Account Manager role sits at an interesting intersection of account management, field sales leadership, and client success — a combination that builds a highly transferable skill set in B2B commercial roles.
Compensation context: The $80,000–$100,000 base plus bonus is at the lower end of the market for National Account Manager roles at this travel intensity. Comparable roles at enterprise firms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Comcast Business) often start at $90–120K base. The bonus opportunity could close the gap, but candidates with 5+ years of experience may find this underwhelming without knowing the bonus structure.
Skills you'll develop:
- Influencing without authority — managing independent business owners with no direct reporting line
- Multi-market campaign strategy and field execution at scale
- Client relationship management with Fortune 500 companies
- Sales performance analytics and data-driven coaching
Career trajectory: This role is a strong stepping stone toward Director of Sales, VP of Client Success, or National Sales Director positions. The exposure to Fortune 500 clients is a genuine resume asset.
Green flags: High-visibility client-facing role, cross-functional collaboration, clear performance metrics. Red flags: Up to 90% travel during ramp-up is significant — assess your personal sustainability. The outsourced/independent sales model also means success depends heavily on influencing people you don't manage, which suits some professionals and frustrates others.
Location: Remote | Approximately 60% Travel Required
Compensation: Starting at $80,000 - $100,000 base salary + Bonus Opportunity
Why Join Us
Cydcor partners with Fortune 500 and emerging companies to drive customer acquisition and growth through outsourced sales programs. We are seeking a commercially minded sales professional who understands how new B2B customers are won in the field and can translate that experience into stronger client partnerships, field execution, and campaign results.
As a National Account Manager – B2B Field Sales, you will connect client priorities with execution across an independent field sales network. You will help grow revenue and profitability, strengthen client relationships, earn the buy-in of independent business owners, and build practical initiatives that improve sales quality and performance. This is a hands-on, travel-intensive position—not a traditional desk-based account management role.
What You'll Do
- Own client and campaign relationships as a key liaison among clients, Cydcor teams, and independent B2B field sales organizations
- Drive campaign revenue, profitability, customer acquisition, and growth; identify opportunities to expand business with existing clients and support commercial negotiations
- Partner with independent business owners and field leaders to gain alignment on priorities, improve execution, and influence results without direct reporting authority
- Evaluate territory and campaign performance using sales, pipeline, quality, productivity, and profitability metrics; develop action plans and communicate progress
- Coach and support field sales leaders on sales practices, product knowledge, systems, client expectations, and performance improvement
- Build and implement field initiatives, incentives, and programs that improve productivity, sales quality, and revenue growth
- Lead coordination for campaign launches, new field offices, market expansion, and integration of new leaders or initiatives
- Present business reviews and performance recommendations to clients and internal leadership; collaborate with Operations, Sales Quality, Training, and other teams to resolve issues
- Travel regularly to field locations, client meetings, and campaign events to build relationships and support execution firsthand
How Success Is Measured
- Client sales and revenue targets; campaign profitability; customer acquisition and pipeline growth; field productivity and sales quality; execution of field initiatives; client satisfaction; and effective partnerships with independent field organizations.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of relevant outside B2B sales experience, including personally acquiring new customers through face-to-face prospecting at business locations
- Experience selling to small or midsize businesses, such as independently owned companies and professional offices, and engaging business decision-makers directly
- Experience leading, coaching, or influencing the performance of outside B2B sales teams or field-based sales partners
- Ability to build relationships with independent business owners and influence sales execution without relying on direct management authority
- Experience managing business client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and participating in commercial negotiations or account expansion
- Ability to interpret sales performance data, identify gaps, and develop clear, actionable improvement plans
- Strong presentation, communication, partnership, and organizational skills; comfort building new processes and working in a changing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Ability to meet extensive business travel requirements. Travel may be as high as approximately 90% during an initial ramp-up period, with an anticipated ongoing level of approximately 50–60%
Preferred Qualifications
- Outside sales in payroll/HCM, merchant services, telecommunications, commercial insurance, business services, or comparable small-business customer acquisition environments
- Experience supporting national or multi-market campaigns, distributed sales teams, independent sales organizations, or franchise-like partner networks
- A track record of improving field productivity, sales quality, account growth, client satisfaction, or campaign profitability
