Career & Market Insight

This is a strong career opportunity for a mid-to-senior React Native engineer looking to work at a fast-scaling European fintech. Alma is a Next40 member with €100M+ ARR, meaning it sits at a growth stage between Series C scaleup and pre-IPO — an exciting inflection point where individual contributors can have outsized impact.

Stack currency: The tech stack is genuinely modern — Expo 57, React Native New Architecture, React 19, TypeScript 7, Nitro modules, and Reanimated 4. These are cutting-edge tools that will keep your skills sharp and highly marketable. Experience with payment SDKs (Adyen, Stripe, Checkout.com) is a rare, high-value specialization in the fintech mobile space.

Compensation context: No salary range is published, but mid-senior React Native engineers in France typically earn €50,000–€75,000 annually. Alma's competitive positioning as a Next40 company suggests compensation toward the upper end of market. The profit-sharing plan adds meaningful upside potential.

Work-life balance signals:

  • 100% parental leave with no seniority requirement — rare and genuinely progressive.
  • Mental health platform (MindDay) and sports reimbursement signal care for employee wellbeing.
  • 25 days PTO is standard French legal minimum — not exceptional.

Green flags: New squad structure means early influence over architecture and processes. Cross-functional ownership from design to production. Emphasis on quality culture (testing, monitoring, code reviews).

Potential consideration: The role is restricted to Metropolitan France, which limits future geographic flexibility if your career plans involve relocating internationally.

About Alma

At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well-balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place — serving merchants and consumers. Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience — without encouraging bad debt.

As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we've empowered over 25,000+ merchants and 10 million consumers. With 400+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started!

About the Team

The Consumer Tribe builds the Alma app for consumers. To tackle more topics and accelerate the development of the consumer experience, the current Consumer squad is splitting into two dedicated squads: Alma Wallet and Consumer Engagement.

Alma Wallet builds the payment experience of the app. With the Alma card, consumers can pay with Alma anywhere, not only at our partner merchants. In the app, they can manage their payments using Apple Pay, Google Pay or local payment methods. By taking Alma beyond our merchant network, the Alma card is one of the company's key strategic bets.

Consumer Engagement drives consumer activation, engagement and long-term retention by helping people get more value from Alma. The team builds experiences that make it easier for consumers to discover partner merchants, benefit from loyalty and cashback rewards, and manage their account independently.

In 2027, the focus is on turning Alma into a more engaging, everyday consumer experience by strengthening loyalty, increasing repeat usage and making Consumer Engagement a key driver of Alma's long-term growth.

This is a new position created as the consumer app organization splits into two squads. You will join one of these squads and work closely with its Engineering Manager, Product Manager, Designer and back-end engineers. You will report to Gautier Labarre, Engineering Manager.

This position is a permanent contract (CDI), open to full remote from Metropolitan France.
