Senior Data Engineer at Doximity | $221K + Equity in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Compensation vs. market rates: The $165K–$221K total comp range is competitive for a senior data engineer in the US. Per Levels.fyi and Glassdoor benchmarks, senior data engineers at mid-to-large tech companies typically earn $170K–$220K total, placing this role squarely in the upper-mid tier — strong for a healthcare tech company outside of FAANG.
Skills you'll build: This role deepens high-demand skills including Python-based pipeline engineering, asynchronous systems (streaming, multithreading), ETL architecture, and ML/AI deployment awareness. These are among the most sought-after capabilities in data engineering as of 2024–2025, particularly the ML/AI integration angle.
Work-life balance signals:
- Green flag: Flexible PTO, remote-first culture (~65% distributed), autonomy-driven work style.
- Green flag: Mentorship and on-boarding programs are documented and public-facing — suggests investment in employee growth.
- Neutral: "Product mindset" emphasis suggests some pressure to ship and tie work to business metrics, common in lean tech orgs.
Company stage & culture: Doximity is a publicly traded company (NYSE: DOCS) with established engineering processes, making it a stable mid-to-large tech employer rather than an early-stage startup. The 65% distributed team and 500+ GitHub repos signal a mature engineering culture.
Red flags to watch: The posting doesn't specify team size or direct reporting structure. Clarify during interviews whether this is an IC role with a clear leveling ladder and how data engineering interacts with ML teams day-to-day.
Location: This role is remote in the United States, Canada, or some countries in South America.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
