Career & Market Insight

This Lead RN, Utilization Management role at Clover Health represents a strong clinical leadership pivot for experienced nurses looking to move from bedside or case management into healthcare operations and managed care leadership.

Compensation & Market Benchmarks: The $100K–$130K range is competitive for UM leadership roles in managed care. Comparable Lead/Senior UM RN positions nationally typically range from $90K–$125K, so Clover's offer sits at or slightly above market, especially combined with equity, ESPP, and performance bonuses.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Vendor governance and delegation oversight — increasingly valuable as health plans expand outsourcing
  • Medicare Advantage and CMS regulatory expertise — a high-demand niche in the growing Medicare market
  • Data-driven clinical operations — bridging clinical judgment with analytics tools
  • People leadership in a remote, tech-forward environment

Culture Signals: Clover is a growth-stage, publicly traded health-tech company (NASDAQ: CLOV). The job description reflects a lean, cross-functional team structure — expect significant autonomy and accountability. The emphasis on "No-Meeting Fridays" and remote-first work signals a deliberate effort at work-life balance, though UM roles inherently carry regulatory time pressure.

Green Flags: Equity participation, professional development funding, and mentorship programs indicate investment in long-term employee growth. Watch for: UM leadership roles can carry burnout risk due to regulatory deadlines and appeals volume — ask about team size and current staffing ratios during interviews.
