Career & Market Insight

Senior Leadership Role at a High-Growth Unicorn: Cribl is one of the fastest-growing private software companies in the observability/telemetry space, serving half the Fortune 100. A VP/Director-level SE leadership role here carries significant market signal and executive exposure — ideal for professionals aiming for a C-suite or VP of Sales Engineering trajectory.

Compensation vs. Market Benchmarks: The $180K–$240K base (plus commission/bonus eligibility and equity) is above market for most SE Director/VP roles in enterprise software, where typical ranges land at $160K–$220K base. Equity in a high-growth private company adds meaningful upside if an IPO or acquisition occurs.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Leading leaders (SE Manager management) — a rare and highly valued skill set that accelerates progression to VP/SVP roles
  • Multi-product GTM strategy and platform-selling motions (MEDDIC, land-and-expand)
  • AI/agentic telemetry — a cutting-edge domain with rapidly growing enterprise demand
  • Cross-functional influence across Product, Engineering, and Customer Success

Green Flags: Remote-first culture, explicit encouragement to use AI tools, emphasis on career pathing and mentorship, Fortune 100 customer base for strong resume credibility, and a clear multi-product expansion roadmap (Apps, AI Insights) that keeps the role evolving.

Watch For: The 30% travel requirement and occasional off-hours work signals a demanding pace. The role covers the entire AMER region, which is broad scope — excellent for career visibility but potentially high-pressure. Candidates should clarify team size and existing SE Manager bench before accepting.

  • Ability to travel approximately 30%.
