SDR to Account Executive Career Path - Proptech SaaS in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Career Trajectory: Funnel explicitly offers a clear path to a closing Account Executive role, making this an ideal launchpad for early-career sales professionals. Working closely with AEs on qualified deals provides direct mentorship and exposure to full sales cycles — a differentiator vs. SDR roles at companies where AEs and SDRs operate in silos.
Compensation vs. Market: The $60K–$70K base is on the lower end of SDR market rates in the US (national median is ~$55K–$75K base, with top-tier SaaS SDRs in major metros earning $70K–$85K+). However, the OTE upside and the proptech niche could add meaningful earnings. Total comp depends heavily on the OTE structure, which is not disclosed.
Skills you'll build:
- Outbound prospecting and multi-threading — highly transferable B2B SaaS skills
- MEDDPICC qualification framework — valued by enterprise SaaS employers
- Salesforce CRM fluency — a resume staple
- AI-augmented prospecting — growing in demand across SaaS sales orgs
- Proptech/multifamily domain expertise — a niche with growing VC investment
Green Flags: Unlimited PTO, remote-first culture, VP of Sales direct reporting line (high visibility), and emphasis on coaching signal a healthy SDR environment. The inclusivity language is genuine and specific.
Watch for: "Non-exempt" classification means hourly tracking — atypical for SDR roles and could signal micromanagement of hours. Clarify OTE structure and ramp expectations before accepting.
Funnel Leasing Inc. is hiring for a Sales Development Representative (SDR). In this role, you'll drive Funnel's new account acquisition engine by hunting for property management companies (50–200+ units) ripe for change, building multi-threaded relationships across operations, property management, and marketing leaders, and booking qualified discovery meetings with decision-makers. You'll own your territory, develop deep expertise in the multifamily buyer, work in close partnership with Account Executives closing your deals, and have a clear path to move into a closing role as you grow. This role reports to the Vice President of Sales.
This is a non-exempt role with an hourly range of $28.85–$33.66/hour ($60,000–$70,000 annualized base). This role is also eligible for on-target earnings (OTE).
