Residential Technician at Southworth - Grow in Luxury in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This Residential Technician role at The Abaco Club is an excellent entry point into luxury hospitality property management, a niche with strong long-term demand as the ultra-high-net-worth residential club market continues to grow.
Career development opportunities:
- Hands-on experience with high-end residential systems (HVAC, pool equipment, smart home tech, septic/plumbing) builds a highly transferable and in-demand skill set.
- Working within a structured management program (monthly/quarterly/annual inspections) develops operational discipline valued in facilities and property management careers.
- Southworth's expanding portfolio signals real internal mobility — technicians who perform well can advance to Assistant Manager or Homeowner Services Manager roles.
Work-life balance signals: Weekend and holiday availability is required, which is typical for hospitality roles. The island setting may offer a relaxed lifestyle outside working hours, but expect schedule demands during peak member seasons.
Compensation: No salary is listed, which is a minor red flag. For a maintenance technician role in a luxury resort setting, market rates typically range from $35,000–$55,000 USD annually depending on experience and whether housing/relocation is included. Candidates should negotiate for housing allowance given the remote island location.
Green flags: 401(k) matching, comprehensive health benefits, a growing company with internal growth paths, and a genuinely unique work environment. Red flag: Absence of salary transparency warrants direct inquiry before applying.
