Career & Market Insight

High-Demand Skillset in a Growing Niche — Internal Developer Platforms are one of the fastest-growing areas in cloud infrastructure. This role places you at the intersection of Kubernetes, GitOps, IaC, and developer experience — all skills commanding premium salaries. Senior Platform Engineers in this stack typically earn $130K–$190K+ USD annually in North American markets and €80K–€130K in Western Europe.

Work-Life Balance Signals:

  • Predictable 8-hour days suggest a structured, non-startup-chaos environment.
  • 24 flex days annually is above-average PTO for a contractor arrangement.
  • The Proxify model acts as a stable intermediary, reducing client-side volatility.

Career Development Value: This role builds depth in the CNCF ecosystem (ArgoCD, Flux, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Crossplane) — certifications like CKA/CKAD and CNCF project contributions become highly marketable. Go programming experience for Kubernetes operators is a rare, high-value combination.

Green Flags: Long-term engagement model, access to "cutting-edge" client companies, and a product-minded platform engineering mandate signal a modern engineering culture.

Watch For: No salary range is disclosed, which is a yellow flag — negotiate firmly using SRE/Platform Engineer benchmarks before accepting. Also, the client company identity is not revealed upfront, making it harder to assess culture and growth trajectory without further research during the process.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer on behalf of our client to build, scale, and maintain an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that empowers application software teams to ship code safely, independently, and rapidly. In this role, you will treat the developer platform as a product—building self-service infrastructure abstractions, automated CI/CD capabilities, and guardrails that eliminate operational toil for product developers.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or core DevOps, with a proven track record of designing and delivering Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
  • Expert-level mastery of Kubernetes administration, custom controller/operator architectures, service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and continuous delivery via GitOps tools (ArgoCD or Flux).
  • Deep proficiency using Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi to construct modular, reusable infrastructure blueprints across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Strong programming skills in Go or Python to build custom platform extensions, CLI tools, Kubernetes operators, and API integrations.
  • Practical experience building or integrating developer portals (e.g., Backstage, Port) and automated workflow engines to abstract infrastructure complexity.
  • Hands-on experience establishing end-to-end telemetry standards using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for metric, log, and trace aggregation.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cloud-native control plane abstractions like Crossplane.
  • Exposure to FinOps practices, container cost monitoring (e.g., Kubecost), and automated resource optimization.
  • Active contributions to open-source cloud-native projects (CNCF ecosystem).
  • Strong background in zero-trust security controls, secrets management (HashiCorp Vault), and compliance automation.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and maintain self-service platform tools and developer portals that enable product teams to independently provision infrastructure, manage environments, and deploy services.
  • Maintain robust, automated GitOps delivery pipelines using ArgoCD/Flux, establishing safe deployment practices (canary, blue-green, automated rollbacks).
  • Maintain cluster health, upgrade lifecycles, autoscaling policies, and security policies across multi-region Kubernetes deployments.
  • Write production-grade Go/Python code to build custom Kubernetes operators, CLI utilities, and API automation to streamline developer workflows.
  • Establish platform-wide SLI/SLO tracking, implement centralized logging and tracing infrastructure, and enforce automated security and cost-compliance policies across environments.

What We Offer

  • Get paid, not played: No more unreliable clients. Enjoy on-time monthly payments with flexible withdrawal options.
  • Predictable project hours: Enjoy a harmonious work-life balance with consistent 8-hour working days with clients.
  • Flex days to recharge: Enjoy up to 24 flex days off per year without losing pay, for full-time positions found through Proxify.
  • Career-accelerating positions at cutting-edge companies: Discover exclusive long-term remote positions at the world's most exciting companies.
  • Hand-picked opportunities just for you: Skip the typical recruitment roadblocks and biases with personally matched positions.
  • One seamless process, multiple opportunities: A one-time contracting process for endless opportunities, with no extra assessments.
  • Compensation: Enjoy the same pay, every month with positions found through Proxify.
