A Writing-First Agency Role with Clear Growth Paths

Animalz is a well-regarded B2B content marketing agency known for high editorial standards, making this a strong resume-builder for content professionals. The role sits at the intersection of craft and strategy — rare in agency environments where writing often becomes commoditized.

Compensation context: At $70k–$85k USD, this is slightly below median for a Senior Content Marketer at a US tech company (typical range: $85k–$110k), but competitive for a remote agency role where you get significant autonomy and variety across enterprise clients. Non-US candidates may find this highly attractive relative to local market rates.

Skills you'll build:

  • Enterprise-level content strategy and campaign architecture — high demand in B2B SaaS
  • AI-assisted content workflows — increasingly required across the industry
  • Freelancer management and editorial direction — pathway to Content Director roles
  • Direct client communication with large enterprise marketing teams

Green flags: Transparent dual growth paths (strategic leadership vs. deep craft mastery), structured onboarding, small team dynamic, and a company that values writing quality over output volume.

Watch for: Agency roles can mean high workload across multiple accounts simultaneously. The "unlimited PTO" policy requires self-discipline to use effectively. The 70% writing time commitment is unusually high for a "senior" role — ideal if you love writing, but limiting if you want to move quickly into pure strategy or management.

We're looking for a Senior Content Marketer: an exceptional writer with the editorial judgment to own content quality for the customers they serve.

This is a writing-first role. About 70% of your time will be spent researching and writing content yourself—work that calls for real research, original thinking, and craft.

On the Enterprise & Campaigns team, that writing spans various formats: thought leadership that gives leaders a point of view worth repeating, along with the blog posts, guides, landing pages, and email sequences that carry a campaign from first touch to conversion. You'll write for some of our largest customers, whose audiences (and internal reviewers) expect work that holds up under scrutiny.

The rest of your time goes to making sure everything else your accounts publish is just as good as what you write. You'll manage the freelance writers who contribute to your accounts, keep the content calendar on track, review every piece before it reaches the customer, and ensure customer feedback is acted on and remembered.

You won't do any of this alone. Every account is served by a small team, and you'll work alongside teammates who own the overall strategy and the customer relationship. Your ownership is the content itself: writing much of it, and standing behind all of it.

What You'll Do

  • Write high-quality content (blog posts, guides, landing pages, and more) that's genuinely worth reading, grounded in a real understanding of each customer's product and audience

  • Write across the full range of campaign formats: thought leadership, blog posts, guides, landing pages, and email nurtures

  • Move between registers with ease, from a long-form piece in an executive's voice to tight conversion copy on a landing page

  • Review every piece your accounts deliver before it reaches the customer, whether you wrote it, a freelancer wrote it, or it started as an AI-assisted draft. (Note: we have separate Editors who edit pieces in production for feedback. Your role is the final review)

  • Turn a campaign plan into a coordinated set of assets that tell one story

  • Help manage the freelance writers on your accounts, write briefs they can succeed with, and maintain customer brand guides and other assets for reference

  • Work smoothly with larger marketing teams, keeping quality and momentum through multiple reviewers and longer approval cycles

  • Act on customer feedback quickly and thoroughly, and keep track of it, so a customer never has to give the same note twice

  • Communicate directly with customers about deliverables, timelines, and revisions, and join customer calls as a trusted voice on the work

  • Contribute to performance reporting, helping show customers what shipped, how it's performing, and what we're learning

  • Use AI tools thoughtfully, taking advantage of them where they genuinely help, and applying your own judgment and craft where they don't

  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and internal initiatives, learning from teammates and sharing what you know

What We're Looking For

  • 4–6 years of experience in content marketing, with at least 2 of those years in B2B SaaS. Agency experience can be a plus

  • Exceptional writing ability: You're first and foremost a writer. You produce publication-ready content with minimal revisions, writing with clarity, precision, and strategic insight, and you adapt your voice to different brands while keeping your standards high

  • Campaign thinking: You see how individual pieces of content connect into a larger arc, and you write each one with its place in that arc in mind

  • Range as a writer: You're as comfortable with in-depth thought leadership as with concise, conversion-focused copy, and you can switch between them without losing quality

  • Strong editorial judgment: You can read someone else's draft, explain clearly why it does or doesn't work. You catch quality problems before customers do

  • Experience working with other writers: You've briefed, edited, or managed freelancers or teammates

  • Customer communication skills: You're clear, responsive, and trustworthy with customers, and you build confidence through the quality and reliability of your work

  • Experience with larger customers: You've worked with enterprise companies or bigger marketing teams, and you handle multiple stakeholders and review rounds with patience and grace

  • Strong organizational skills: You can manage multiple accounts, contributors, and deadlines at once without letting quality or dates slip

  • AI fluency: You use AI tools to support your workflow responsibly and effectively, you can edit AI-assisted drafts to publication quality, and you stay current on emerging best practices

  • Technical curiosity: You genuinely enjoy learning how software products and businesses work so you can write about them with authority

  • Ownership and adaptability: You take initiative, navigate ambiguity, and raise problems early, while they're still easy to solve

Room to Grow

Senior Content Marketers at Animalz have real room to grow. You'll start by taking ownership of content for a small set of customers, then take on bigger and more complex accounts as you're ready. From there, many people grow into leading content strategy or managing customer relationships—first alongside a senior teammate, then independently—which is the path to our Associate Head of Content role. Others go deep instead: our most experienced Senior Content Marketers lead content for our most demanding customers and mentor newer teammates, and that's a career here in its own right.

Whichever direction you grow, you'll keep writing. Even our most senior people do; it's the heart of what we sell.

Your First Few Months

You'll spend your first weeks learning our processes and editorial standards and getting to know your accounts, writing your first pieces with plenty of editorial support. Over your first few months, you'll step into full content ownership of your first account (with your Head of Content close by as a backstop) and grow from there at a pace that matches your experience.

Our Values

At Animalz, our values guide how we show up for our customers, our teammates, and the content we create.

  • Value Over Vanity: Success isn't measured in customer praise, but in the growth outcomes we deliver for them.

  • Two Steps Ahead: Great service means addressing a need or issue before it becomes notable.

  • Power Source, Not Power Trip: We find our greatest impact in being in service to others—our customers, our customers' customers, and one another. True power comes not from authority but from influence.

  • Pursue Mastery: Through deliberate practice and open collaboration, we build expertise that elevates both our work and our ability to deliver transformative results for our clients.

  • Left Brain, Right Brain, Robot Brain: We create extraordinary outcomes by combining empathy and creativity, data and research, and algorithms and AI.

  • In the Arena: We don't advise from the sidelines – we're active practitioners who shape the future of our industry through bold experimentation and continuous learning.

Working Arrangements

Location: Fully remote (Americas or EMEA)

Timezone Requirements: At least 4 hours of overlap with US timezones (EST/PST) to collaborate effectively with our team and customers
