Wind Turbine Technician Career - Vestas Offshore in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This role offers a strong entry point or progression step in the rapidly expanding offshore wind sector, one of the most in-demand technical fields in the energy transition. GEV Wind Power works with leading global renewable energy operators, offering real exposure to cutting-edge Vestas platforms (8–10MW turbines).
Compensation: No salary is stated. Offshore wind technician roles in the UK typically range from £35,000–£55,000+ per annum, with additional offshore allowances, rotational supplements, and benefits that can push total compensation higher. Candidates should negotiate based on certifications held.
Skills developed:
- Hands-on experience with large-scale Vestas offshore turbines (highly transferable across the sector).
- Advanced HSE competency (GWO, SSOW, RAMS) — valued across oil & gas and renewables.
- Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic fault-finding in challenging environments.
- OEM-specific certifications (Vestas TOS, SAI) that are market-scarce and career-enhancing.
Green flags: The offshore wind sector is growing strongly in Europe and globally. GEV Wind Power positions itself as a multi-OEM, global service provider — good for long-term career mobility. Roles starting January 2027 suggest advance planning and organisational stability.
Considerations: No salary disclosed, and the extensive certification list means candidates need significant upfront investment. Confirm whether GEV funds any missing certifications — this is a standard negotiation point in the sector.
