Career & Market Insight

Role type & level: This is a mid-level individual contributor position (3+ years required), structured as a contractor engagement rather than full-time employment. This distinction is critical — you will not receive benefits, equity, or job security, but gain exposure to a high-profile client roster (Google, Apple, NYT, ESPN).

Skills developed: The role heavily emphasizes CMS-driven and content-rich design — a specialized niche that is increasingly in demand as media companies, enterprise SaaS, and editorial brands invest in structured content platforms. You'll also build:

  • Design systems architecture and scalable component thinking
  • Motion and interaction design as a communication tool
  • Client-facing presentation and stakeholder communication skills
  • Cross-functional collaboration in an agency context

Compensation signals: No rate is listed, which is common for contractor pools. Agency contractor rates for senior product designers in the US typically range from $75–$130/hr. For LATAM-based contractors, expect rates closer to $40–$80/hr depending on experience and negotiation leverage.

Green flags: "Intentionally remote" culture, exposure to major brand clients, and a structured contractor pool model that can provide consistent project flow.

Red flags: This is a contractor pool, not a guaranteed role — project invitations are sent "when they arise," meaning income may be intermittent. Treat this as a supplementary or portfolio-building engagement rather than a primary income source until projects stabilize.

Location: Remote — Americas Team (Open to applicants located in North & South America, with the ability to primarily work within US business hours/time zones)

  • You're excited by storytelling and strategy, articulating design decisions clearly and confidently to clients and stakeholders.
  • You collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, contributing to alignment through thoughtful communication and shared problem-solving.
