Career & Market Insight

This role is explicitly designed as an entry-level on-ramp into startup marketing — ideal for students, recent graduates, or career-changers who want real, hands-on exposure without needing prior experience. The structured template-based approach lowers the barrier significantly.

Skills you'll build:

  • HubSpot (marketing automation, CRM, email, landing pages) — a highly marketable, in-demand skill in demand-gen and marketing ops careers
  • Content operations and CMS management (practical digital marketing fundamentals)
  • Event coordination and logistics
  • AI tool proficiency in a marketing context — increasingly required across all marketing roles

Compensation: No salary is listed, which is a yellow flag. Part-time coordinator roles in US startups typically pay $15–25/hour depending on location and experience. It's worth clarifying rate and whether this is W-2 or 1099 contract before accepting.

Culture signals: Maze is a Series A, AI-native cybersecurity startup — a high-growth sector. The language is direct, expectation-setting, and autonomy-oriented ("figure a lot out on your own"). This suggests a lean team culture where initiative is rewarded, but support may be limited.

Green flags: Training is included, there's explicit mention of growth potential, and exposure to AI × security is a genuinely differentiating resume line. Red flag: The missing salary data and vague "room to grow" language warrant follow-up questions about path to full-time.

Summary of the Role:

As Marketing Coordinator at Maze, an AI-native code security company, you'll support a fast-moving marketing team across three areas: events, digital and content, and marketing operations. It's a hands-on role where you'll pick up the tasks the team hands off and learn how a CMS, a marketing automation platform, events, content and social all fit together.

You don't need marketing experience. We're looking for a go-getter who's organized, reliable and comfortable using AI tools to get work done. We'll show you some of the ropes and give you templates where we have them, but you'll figure a lot out on your own.

It's a good fit for a student or someone starting out in marketing who wants to see how a startup marketing team works from the inside.
