Career & Market Insight

This is a solid entry-to-mid-level IT support role in the healthcare sector — a niche that commands a premium over standard corporate helpdesk positions due to HIPAA compliance requirements and EHR system complexity. The U.S. market rate for Tier 1 helpdesk roles typically ranges from $38,000–$55,000 annually; healthcare IT roles often sit at the higher end of that band.

Skills you'll develop:

  • Healthcare IT fundamentals (HIPAA, PHI handling, EHR systems like Avatar)
  • Microsoft 365 ecosystem administration (Entra ID, Intune, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Active Directory and identity management
  • Incident response and security awareness in a regulated environment

These are highly marketable skills — healthcare IT is growing as organizations digitize clinical workflows, and professionals with EHR experience are in demand. This role serves as a strong launchpad toward System Administrator, IT Security, or Healthcare IT Analyst positions.

Green flags: Multi-site exposure across a national organization, broad tech stack (not siloed), and knowledge base contribution that builds documentation habits valued at senior levels.

Watch points: On-call rotation and after-hours expectations can affect work-life balance. The two-week PTO cap is below the market norm of 15–20 days for comparable roles. No salary transparency in the posting. Bilingual (Spanish) is a differentiator worth highlighting if applicable.

Overall, a strong stepping stone role for someone targeting a career in healthcare IT or IT security.
