Entry-Level Science Sales at Agilent NZ | Career Growth in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a strong entry-level launchpad role for science graduates wanting to transition into commercial or sales careers — a path that is increasingly valued and well-compensated in the life sciences and analytical instruments sector.
Career development signals:
- Explicit pathway to full Account Manager or Inside Sales roles — Agilent is signalling internal promotion as a genuine goal
- Exposure to the full sales cycle (quoting, lead gen, renewals, telesales) builds a comprehensive commercial skill set
- Working with analytical instruments and consumables (a high-value B2B niche) makes your experience transferable to competitors like Thermo Fisher, Waters, Shimadzu, and MilliporeSigma
Compensation: No salary is listed, but entry-level science sales roles in New Zealand typically start in the NZD 55,000–70,000 range. Agilent is a large, well-established multinational (NYSE: A), so benefits and training investment tend to be above average for the sector.
Green flags: Structured onboarding, mentorship culture, a science-driven company with global brand recognition, and a clearly defined growth trajectory. Agilent's size also provides stability that smaller distributors cannot.
Watch for: The 35% travel requirement is significant for an entry-level role — clarify if this is regional or national, and whether a car allowance or travel reimbursement is included. Also confirm remote work terms to understand how many days per week are expected in-office or on-site with clients.
