Community Growth Specialist Role - EdTech Brand in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This role sits at the intersection of community management, content strategy, and organic growth marketing — a skill set in high demand as brands increasingly rely on authentic, community-driven growth rather than paid advertising.
Compensation context: At $20–$28/hr part-time, annualized this is roughly $31K–$44K (at 30 hrs/week). For a full-time equivalent, that's $41K–$58K — below senior-level market rates for Community Managers (typically $60K–$90K+ full-time), but reasonable for a part-time contract role with low overhead.
Skills you'll build:
- Reddit and Quora community management — platforms rarely covered in formal marketing education but increasingly valued.
- Organic growth strategy and community analytics.
- Audience intent analysis and content positioning — transferable to SEO and content marketing roles.
- Branded community building, a growing niche in B2C and Ed-Tech marketing.
Green flags: TAL Education Group is NYSE-listed with massive scale (6M+ weekly students), giving your work real impact. The role offers potential extension, which could lead to a full-time position. Red flags: The 6-month contract with no guarantee of extension introduces income uncertainty. The role is clearly early-stage for this channel, meaning you'll need to build from scratch with limited infrastructure. Ideal for someone building a portfolio or transitioning into Ed-Tech content marketing.
Job Type: Part-Time (30 hours per week)
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension
Compensation: $20–$28/hr, based on experience
