Entry-Level Trust & Safety — A High-Demand Specialization

Trust & Safety is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in tech, with demand outpacing supply across marketplaces, social platforms, and fintech. Getting in at the Associate Investigator level at a well-funded, VC-backed marketplace (GV, Foundation Capital) is a solid career foundation, especially given that Peerspace handles $500M+ in transactions — giving you exposure to real-scale fraud and risk scenarios.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Fraud detection and investigation methodology
  • Chargeback dispute management (directly transferable to fintech/payments roles)
  • Identity and payment verification review
  • Proficiency with Stripe, Intercom, Forter, and Sift — all industry-standard tools
  • GDPR/data deletion compliance operations

Compensation Context: At $26/hr (~$54K annualized), this is on the lower end for Trust & Safety roles in the US, where mid-level specialists often earn $65K–$90K. However, for an entry-level, remote role at a category-leading startup, it's a reasonable stepping stone — especially with full medical/dental/vision coverage factored in.

Culture Signals: "Great Place to Work" certified, remote-first, cross-functional collaboration, and an emphasis on humor and camaraderie suggest a healthy startup culture without excessive corporate rigidity. The rotating weekend schedule is a realistic trade-off for an operations role.

Green Flags: Clear growth path in a high-demand niche, real tools exposure, and a mission-driven team. Watch for: Weekend shift rotation may cause burnout over time — clarify advancement timelines early.
