QA Automation Engineer – Playwright & AWS Cloud Role in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This role sits in a high-demand niche: Playwright-based test automation engineering at a cloud-native, AI-focused consulting firm. Playwright has rapidly become the industry standard for web E2E testing, overtaking Selenium and Cypress in adoption — proficiency here is a genuinely marketable skill in 2024–2025.
Compensation context: No salary is listed, which is a mild yellow flag. For a mid-senior QA automation engineer (3+ years, Playwright + CI/CD), market rates typically range from $70K–$110K USD annually in North America, or £45K–£75K GBP in the UK. For LATAM-based candidates, rates may be adjusted to regional norms.
Career development signals are strong:
- Individual professional development plan + paid certifications signal genuine investment in employee growth
- AWS Premier Partner status means exposure to large-scale, complex cloud architectures
- Working across multiple client projects accelerates skill breadth faster than a single-product company
- Phantom equity suggests startup-adjacent growth potential without pure startup risk
Green flags: Fully remote culture is established (not experimental), diverse LATAM/NA team, clear focus on AI and modern tooling, inclusive hiring practices.
Watch points: No salary transparency, UK hours requirement despite LATAM hiring suggests potential timezone strain, and consulting roles can have variable project intensity. Overall, this is a strong platform role for a QA engineer wanting to deepen automation expertise within a growing AI/cloud services practice.
