FP&A Manager Role at Roofstock - Series E Proptech in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a mid-to-senior FP&A leadership role at a well-funded proptech company (Series E, $240M raised), offering meaningful career development for finance professionals looking to move from individual contributor to strategic leader.
Compensation context: The $110K–$130K base is slightly below market for a Strategic Finance Manager with 5+ years in major metros (SF/NYC benchmarks typically run $140K–$170K), but competitive for Dallas-based roles. The total comp package may close this gap. Candidates with an MBA or investment banking background should negotiate toward the top of the range.
Skills developed:
- Board-level financial reporting and executive communication
- FP&A leadership across a multi-product, post-acquisition environment
- Cross-functional influence without direct authority
- Financial modeling for real estate tech (a specialized, growing niche)
Green flags: Roofstock has a strong acquisition track record (Stessa, RentPrep, Mynd, Casago), indicating ongoing complexity and scope growth for finance leaders. The role has direct access to executive and board reporting — high visibility for career advancement.
Red flags to probe: Fast-moving, ambiguity-tolerant environments can mean under-resourced teams. Ask about team size, reporting lines, and whether the FP&A function is still being built out post-acquisitions.
Culture signals: Emphasis on humility, independence, and cross-org collaboration suggests a lean, high-ownership culture typical of growth-stage startups scaling toward IPO or acquisition readiness.
