Sourcing Manager at Veeam - Grow in Strategic Procurement in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a mid-to-senior individual contributor role at a well-established, enterprise-scale software company (550,000+ customers, 30+ global offices). Veeam is a mature, private-equity-backed tech firm — not an early-stage startup — which signals structured processes, defined career ladders, and relative job stability.
Compensation vs. Market: The Zone 1 ceiling of $198K TTC (base + bonus) is competitive for a Sourcing Manager at a tech firm of this size. Zone 3 midpoints (~$130K) align with market medians for senior procurement professionals in mid-tier US cities per data from PayScale and APICS benchmarks. Offers are noted to typically be made below the midpoint, so negotiate accordingly.
Skills You'll Build:
- End-to-end strategic sourcing and RFx execution — highly transferable across industries.
- Coupa platform proficiency — a top-tier eSourcing tool valued by Fortune 500 procurement teams.
- Contract lifecycle management and commercial risk mitigation — critical for senior CPO career tracks.
- Stakeholder influence skills working with Legal, Finance, and C-suite decision-makers.
Green Flags: Unlimited PTO, strong parental leave (16 weeks for birthing parents), dedicated learning budget via LinkedIn Learning and O'Reilly, and a mentoring culture suggest a people-forward environment. The role also includes mentoring Buyers, providing a leadership growth path without requiring a full people-manager title yet.
Watch For: The posting doesn't specify team size or direct reports, so the scope of leadership influence may be limited. Clarify in interviews whether this is a true strategic role or largely execution-focused.
