Career & Market Insight

Role Positioning: Solutions Consulting (presales) is a high-leverage career path at the intersection of sales, product, and research. It's one of the fastest ways to build executive-level communication skills while staying technical—making it a strong stepping stone to Senior SC, Director of Solutions Consulting, or even Product Management and Customer Success leadership.

Compensation: No salary is listed, but market rates for Solutions Consultants at SaaS companies with Dscout's profile typically range from $90,000–$140,000 base in the US, with OTE (base + bonus) pushing $120,000–$175,000. Equity is included, which adds meaningful upside at a growth-stage company recognized in the Forrester Wave.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Enterprise sales cycle navigation and buying-committee influence—highly transferable skills.
  • Deep UX research methodology expertise, increasingly valued as companies invest in product-led growth.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success.
  • Consultative storytelling and executive-level communication.

Green Flags: Dscout's Forrester Wave recognition signals genuine market traction. The role reports to a Senior Director (clear mentorship path), includes structured success metrics (tech wins, pipeline influence), and the company explicitly values transparency and continuous improvement—signals of a healthy growth-stage culture.

Watch Out For: The ~25% travel requirement is significant—confirm this aligns with your lifestyle. No salary transparency in the posting is a minor flag; ask for ranges early in the process.

At Dscout, we're building the most flexible and powerful UX research platform on the market—trusted by the world's top brands in finance (JP Morgan Chase, Intuit, Charles Schwab, PayPal), healthcare (Aya, Headspace), consumer goods (Keen, Verizon, Target, Northface), and tech (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Meta, Spotify, AirBnB). Our tools help teams deeply understand the humans behind their products, so they can build better ones. We are expanding our smart and driven team and would love for you to join us.

Overview

We're looking for a Solutions Consultant to join the Dscout Presales Team. In this role, you will partner closely with Account Directors to guide prospective customers through their evaluation of Dscout's research platform. You will act as both a product expert and a strategic advisor—uncovering pain points, shaping use cases, and demonstrating how Dscout's solutions deliver real value. This role blends presales excellence, research credibility, and product storytelling, making it ideal for someone energized by problem-solving, discovery, and influencing customer decisions. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Solutions Consulting.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with Account Directors to understand customer goals across research, design, and broader business contexts.
  • Support discovery conversations to identify pain points and unpack complex research workflows.
  • Translate customer challenges into clear, high-impact use cases.
  • Deliver compelling, customized demos tailored to each customer's workflow, challenges, and goals.
  • Own the "tech win" by driving alignment across the customer's buying committee.
  • Serve as the product expert—explaining capabilities, value, limitations, and best-practice approaches.
  • Scope, plan, and execute customer evaluations, including research design, recruiting, fielding, and analysis support.
  • Partner with prospects to create a clear roadmap for onboarding, adoption, and long-term success.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop presales collateral, case studies, and thought-leadership materials.
  • Provide structured feedback to Product, Research, and Customer Success based on customer insights.
  • Participate in conferences, customer onsites, and company events (approx. 25% travel).
  • Contribute to Dscout's culture of feedback, continuous improvement, and research excellence.

What You Should Have

  • 3+ years in a customer-facing SaaS role such as Solutions Consulting, Solutions Engineering, Research Consulting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of qualitative research methodologies with hands-on experience planning and executing research.
  • Ability to communicate complex research workflows and translate them into compelling product stories.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills—able to be consultative, clear, and persuasive with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, structuring messy problems, and crafting strategic recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, behavioral sciences, HCI, design research, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting enterprise-level sales cycles.
  • Familiarity with UX research, insights, or usability testing platforms (Dscout, UserTesting, Maze, etc.).
  • Exposure to product management or prototyping tools such as Figma or Miro.
  • Leadership experience including mentoring, onboarding, or serving as a team lead.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Achieving quarterly tech-win and presales influence targets.
  • Delivering high-quality demos, POCs, and discovery engagements that accelerate pipeline momentum and customer clarity.
  • Strong feedback scores and ratings from Account Directors.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership through internal enablement or external research-community engagement.
  • Providing meaningful insights to the Product and Marketing teams that inform roadmap and positioning.

Note: Some of the benefits listed below apply only to U.S.-based employees. We offer a similarly competitive benefits program in the UK with many comparable offerings, which we'll be happy to share with you during the interview process.

Of course, what is outlined above is an ideal set of expectations; however, business needs and other projects and tasks may shift, and additional tasks could be assigned at the discretion of your manager.
