Senior Deployment Specialist – EV Tech Career at ChargePoint in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
A strong mid-level role in a high-growth clean energy sector. ChargePoint is a publicly traded (NYSE: CHPT) EV infrastructure leader — working here adds a recognized brand to your resume in an industry with sustained regulatory tailwinds and increasing capital investment globally.
Compensation context: The $70,380–$95,220 range is competitive for a senior technical support/deployment specialist role but sits at or slightly below what similar roles at cloud or SaaS companies pay. The RSU grant component adds upside if CHPT stock appreciates, though it adds some compensation risk. For candidates in high-cost metros like San Francisco or NYC, this may feel lean; for mid-market cities or fully remote lifestyles, it's solid.
Skills you'll build:
- Deep expertise in EV charging hardware (AC/DC fast chargers) — a niche and increasingly valuable skill set
- Cellular connectivity troubleshooting (SIM provisioning, signal diagnostics) applicable across IoT industries
- Salesforce CRM proficiency for customer communication and case management
- Cross-functional coordination between field ops, engineering, and sales — valuable for future ops management roles
Green flags: Clear reporting structure, values-driven culture language, RSU incentives tied to performance, and a well-defined senior-level scope suggest a mature operations team. The role's cross-functional nature offers a visible path toward a Deployment Manager or Technical Operations Manager title.
Watch for: Phone support during peak hours can indicate reactive work culture. Candidates seeking highly strategic roles may find the day-to-day volume-driven.
