Career & Market Insight

Career Signal: High-Impact Senior IC Role — Enterprise Solutions Architect at Databricks is a marquee position in the data/AI ecosystem. Databricks consistently ranks among the most valuable private tech companies (valued at $43B+), giving this role strong resume credibility and long-term career leverage.

Compensation Context: No salary is listed, but Enterprise SAs at Databricks typically command $200K–$280K OTE (base + variable) in the US market, with significant equity upside given the company's pre-IPO status. Candidates outside the US should benchmark regionally.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Technical pre-sales leadership on >$1M ARR accounts — rare and highly transferable.
  • Deep expertise in ML/AI platforms, Lakehouse architecture, and cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Executive-level stakeholder management and value-based selling skills.
  • Virtual team leadership and mentorship — a pathway to Principal SA or Sales Engineering management.

Green Flags: Databricks invests heavily in SA enablement, certification, and internal mobility. The High Tech and Manufacturing vertical is a growth area for AI adoption, meaning strong deal flow.

Watch Out For: Enterprise pre-sales carries inherent pressure tied to quota attainment. The requirement to cover large, global accounts can blur work-life boundaries — especially across time zones. Clarify account load and coverage expectations during interviews.

Mission

We are looking for experienced pre-sales professionals who have a successful track record helping large enterprises become more data-driven. Working with the Enterprise Account Executive (AE), the Enterprise SA defines and directs the technical strategy for our largest and most important accounts, leading to more widespread use of our products and wider and deeper adoption of ML & AI.

You will lean upon your solid background in value selling, technical account management, and technical leadership to maximize success in these accounts. While you work with a team that includes hands-on resources who will build proofs of concept and demonstrate Databricks' products, you need to be technical and must understand the relevance and application of ML & AI within a range of use cases important to target accounts in the High Tech and Manufacturing space.

Outcomes

  • Serve as the main technical voice for Databricks across multiple clients.
  • Lead customers on a transformational journey, helping them evaluate and adopt Databricks as part of their strategy.
  • Implement the technical strategy in accounts, in close alignment with business strategy.
  • Build a movement of technical champions within each account.
  • Align technical strategies around Databricks solutions.
  • Provide structured mentorship for other team members.
  • Gain the respect of peers based on your experience, insight, and contributions.

Competencies

  • Proficiency at establishing virtual teams and leading them to success within the account.
  • Experience working with very large (>$1M ARR), global accounts.
  • Ability to form relationships with executives and influencers.
  • Ability to present a convincing point-of-view to key decision-makers.
  • Technical depth in big data, data science, and cloud.
  • Ability to drive data-driven business transformation and change.
  • Production programming experience in Python, R, Scala, or Java.
  • Nice to have: Databricks Certification.
