Coinbase Brokerage Ops Associate | $121K Fintech Role in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Career positioning: This is a solid mid-entry role for finance professionals looking to gain exposure at the intersection of traditional brokerage operations and crypto/fintech. Coinbase's Capital Markets team operates a regulated US equities brokerage, meaning you'll build skills that translate back to traditional finance as well as forward into crypto-native operations.
Compensation context: The $121K–$127K base range is competitive for a brokerage operations associate role — traditional bank ops associates at this level typically earn $80K–$100K. Coinbase's premium reflects the intensity of the environment and crypto market demands. Additional equity and bonus eligibility can meaningfully increase total comp.
Skills you'll develop:
- Deep expertise in US equities trade lifecycle, ACATs, and clearing platforms (Apex)
- Cross-functional coordination in a regulated, high-stakes environment
- SQL and workflow automation tools applicable across fintech roles
- Generative AI integration in operational workflows — an increasingly in-demand skill
Green flags: High ownership early in your career, exposure to a publicly traded crypto company, and skills that are portable across fintech, traditional brokerage, and compliance functions.
Red flags to consider: Coinbase explicitly describes the environment as "intense" with a "high bar" — this culture suits high performers but can lead to burnout. The quarterly surges signal a demanding in-person commitment despite remote status. The narrow salary band also leaves little room for negotiation at the base level.
Best suited for ambitious finance ops professionals who want rapid skill development and a fintech brand on their resume.
