Career & Market Insight

A Rare Zero-to-One Opportunity in Fintech: Leading the RC Capital team means you're building a brand-new financial product line from scratch at a Series C company with $12B+ in payment volume. This kind of greenfield fintech mandate — covering underwriting, risk, money movement, and banking integrations — is highly valuable on a resume and rarely available outside of early-stage startups or large banks.

Compensation Context: No salary is listed, but Engineering Manager roles at Series C SaaS/fintech companies typically range from $180,000–$250,000 USD base in the US market, with meaningful equity on top. The 10-year equity exercise window is an unusually generous term (industry standard is 90 days post-departure), significantly reducing personal financial risk.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Fintech infrastructure: payment rails, reconciliation, partner bank integrations — all in high demand
  • Risk and compliance engineering in a regulated domain
  • Distributed team leadership across multiple continents
  • Cross-functional product ownership at a growth-stage startup

Green Flags: YC-backed with strong investor pedigree; values-driven culture with "Balance" explicitly listed; iterative shipping culture reducing burnout risk; strong mentorship and coaching emphasis.

Watch For: "Zero-to-one" roles carry inherent ambiguity — expect frequent pivots. Fintech regulatory requirements can slow delivery. Ensure you're comfortable with the uncertainty of a new business line that may not yet have product-market fit.

RevenueCat removes the headaches of building and scaling in-app subscriptions. Since graduating from YC's S18 batch we've grown into the default monetization platform for mobile: we're in >40% of newly shipped subscription apps, we process $12B+ in annual purchase volume, and we help everyone from a solo dev in Brazil to the OpenAI mobile team understand and grow their revenue.

We're a remote-first crew of 150+, spread across 25+ countries, and guided by values we actually practice: Customer Obsession, Always Be Shipping, Own It, and Balance. If you want your work to touch hundreds of millions of end-users (and help the developers behind them get paid), you'll fit right in.

The Role

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering for RC Capital — a zero-to-one team on the ground floor of a brand-new business line. You'll help design, build, ship, and support the infrastructure behind Early Payouts and whatever we build next: underwriting and risk monitoring, money movement and reconciliation, partner bank integrations, and fraud detection.

This role blends the technical depth of our core Engineering Manager bar with direct exposure to financial products — factoring, underwriting, risk, banking integrations — so a background in fintech, financial services, or a related regulated/risk-sensitive domain is essential.

Please note: although we're fully remote, this team is based across US and European time zones, so there's some expectation of overlap in working hours.
