CRA II at ICON plc – Clinical Research Career Greece in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This CRA II position at ICON plc — one of the world's largest contract research organizations — is a solid mid-level clinical research role for professionals with 2+ years of field monitoring experience. Here's what career-minded applicants should consider:
Career Development: ICON's scale means exposure to diverse therapeutic areas and global trial protocols. Skills in ICH-GCP compliance, site management, and clinical data integrity are highly transferable and in strong demand across pharma, biotech, and other CROs. The CRA II level is a stepping stone toward Senior CRA, Clinical Team Lead, or Project Management tracks.
Compensation: No salary is listed, which is a mild red flag. Greek CRA II market rates typically range from €35,000–€50,000 annually, though ICON's international structure may offer slightly above-market packages with strong benefits (EAP, health insurance, retirement). The travel allowances and car/mileage reimbursements typical for field CRAs also add effective compensation.
Work-Life Balance Signals: The 60% travel requirement is demanding and a significant lifestyle consideration. The role is labeled remote but is effectively a field role — expect weeks away from home regularly.
- Green flag: ICON's global footprint provides career mobility and structured progression.
- Green flag: Strong benefits package with TELUS Health EAP and flexible local perks.
- Red flag: No salary transparency. High travel burden may lead to burnout without proper support.
- Green flag: ICH-GCP expertise is perennially in demand globally.
