Career & Market Insight

This role at Solace represents a genuinely differentiated career opportunity for physicians tired of traditional clinical settings. Solace is a Series C startup valued at $1 billion (per Bloomberg, February 2026), backed by top-tier VCs including Menlo Ventures, IVP, and Craft Ventures — signaling strong financial runway and growth momentum.

Career development signals:

  • You'll be involved in building a new patient care program, offering rare physician influence over clinical model design at an early stage
  • Strong exposure to health-tech systems and digital advocacy tools — increasingly marketable skills as healthcare digitizes
  • Cross-functional collaboration with non-physician advocates builds skills in care coordination and population health management

Work-life balance considerations: The description emphasizes urgency and intensity — phrases like "we're intense, and we like it that way" are a clear signal this is a high-performance startup culture, not a lifestyle role. Physicians accustomed to traditional employment models should weigh this carefully.

Compensation: No salary is disclosed, which is a yellow flag. Board-certified primary care physicians in Missouri typically earn $220,000–$280,000 annually in employed settings. Candidates should probe whether this is a part-time, contractual, or full-time arrangement and benchmark accordingly.

Green flags: Mission-driven work, elite investor backing, and early-stage influence. Red flag: No benefits or compensation details provided — clarify scope and structure before applying.

About the Role

Healthcare is broken. If you've worked in healthcare for any period of time, you know this. Solace connects people to healthcare advocates who solve the problems they face in accessing care, and the physician plays an important role in this.

As a Solace Physician, you will build strong relationships and facilitate an unparalleled advocacy experience for our patients. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare advocates to help our patients achieve their health goals to foster exceptional outcomes. By contributing to the development of a new patient care program, you will ensure that Solace is well-equipped to optimally serve a vulnerable population.

This role is for physicians residing in Missouri only. Candidates must have a DEA license and HAP.

What You'll Do

  • Learn the Solace systems, tools, technology, partners, and expectations, while also providing your unique clinical expertise in every interaction.
  • Identify and prioritize patients' needs and maintain a streamlined care continuum.
  • Oversee patient care plans in partnership with healthcare advocates to holistically address social determinants of health, including food resources, transportation access, and support at home.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Board certification in family medicine, internal medicine, or other relevant specialty.
  • Strong clinical skills paired with excellent organizational skills — able to balance multiple tasks and work under pressure without sacrificing organization in communications and documentation.
  • Superior communication skills; listening and empathy are the foundation for every patient interaction at Solace.
  • Comfort working with elderly patients as well as individuals navigating Social Determinants of Health.
  • Technical savvy — ability to quickly and fluently learn new systems and software.
  • Extreme bias toward action and execution; willingness to share feedback to forge better patient outcomes.
  • Embrace change and iteration; comfort with rapid changes to business strategy, organization, and priorities.

Applicants must be based in the United States.
