Career & Market Insight

Role Level & Market Positioning

The £42,500–£50,000 salary (plus performance incentives) is broadly in line with mid-level analyst roles at UK fintechs for a specialised platform support function. Anaplan expertise commands a premium in the market — certified Anaplan professionals are in relatively short supply, which gives this skillset strong career leverage beyond Monzo.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Anaplan model architecture and formula development — a niche, high-demand EPM skill
  • FP&A process design and financial modelling fundamentals
  • Centre of Excellence (CoE) operations and change management
  • AI tooling literacy — explicitly valued here, signalling a forward-thinking team
  • Stakeholder training and cross-functional communication

Culture & Growth Signals: Monzo is a scaled-up fintech (not a tiny startup), which typically means more structured processes, clearer career ladders, and better benefits than early-stage companies. The CoE structure suggests a maturing finance function — good for learning enterprise-grade best practices. Working directly with a Lead Solutions Architect is a strong mentorship opportunity for career progression toward a Model Builder or Solutions Architect role.

Green Flags: Trust-based flexible hours, £1,000 learning budget (useful for Anaplan certifications), clear 3-step interview process, and an emphasis on diversity. Watch for: The role sits in a support function, so upward mobility depends on whether Monzo expands its CoE headcount. Clarify career progression paths during the interview stage.

As an Anaplan Support Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our Anaplan platform and supporting our broader Centre of Excellence (CoE). You'll play a key role by…

  • Implementing Change Requests: Managing, triaging, and delivering end-to-end Change Requests across our Anaplan models to ensure seamless business operations.
  • Supporting Model Building: Collaborating closely with Lead Solutions Architect and Model Builders to assist in building, testing, and implementing new functionalities and enhancements.
  • Providing Training & Supporting End Users: Designing and delivering engaging training sessions and documentation to upskill end-users across FP&A and Finance Business Partner teams.
  • Maintaining & Optimising Models: Maintaining data integrity, managing user access, monitoring model performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

We'd love to hear from you if you have…

  • Anaplan Expertise: Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining Anaplan workspaces/models (Anaplan Level 2 Model Builder certification or equivalent is highly desirable).
  • Managed Change Requests & Supported Systems: Proven track record handling Change Requests, user support tickets, and system enhancements in a CoE or support structure.
  • Model Building Skills: Functional understanding of Anaplan model architecture and formula building, with the ability to assist in active model development.
  • Experience Training Users: Strong communication and facilitation skills, with a passion for training and empowering non-technical users on Anaplan functionality.
  • An Understanding of Finance: Solid foundational understanding of financial modelling, FP&A principles, or finance workflows.
  • AI Tooling: Familiarity with AI tools, including the ability to write effective prompts. You should demonstrate curiosity for how AI can be used to improve processes and solve problems more effectively.
  • Domain Experience: Banking or financial services experience is a bonus, but not essential! We will consider candidates from non-financial industries.
