Career & Market Insight

Role Positioning: This is a senior-level, hybrid technical/commercial role — often called a "Technical Account Manager" or "Solutions Engineer" in larger companies. At a Series-A/B-stage startup like Enode (backed by YC and Creandum), it offers unusually broad ownership: you'll touch pre-sales, post-sales, internal engineering, and product strategy simultaneously.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Deep API integration expertise in a complex, multi-vendor IoT/energy domain
  • Enterprise relationship management with large utilities and energy companies
  • Cross-functional influence — acting as a product advocate internally while managing technical customers externally
  • Direct codebase contributions, keeping your engineering skills sharp alongside your commercial ones

Market Demand: Solutions Engineers with API/enterprise integration experience are in high demand across SaaS and climate tech. The energy transition space is growing rapidly, and domain expertise here will be a career differentiator for the next decade.

Compensation: No salary figures are disclosed, but "competitive compensation" with an employee option program is standard for a well-funded European climate tech startup. Expect salary ranges comparable to senior SWE or TAM roles in Norway/Europe (€80k–€120k+ depending on location), with meaningful equity upside given the early stage.

Green Flags:

  • Flat organisation with real ownership — not a cog in a large enterprise machine
  • Strong investor backing (YC, Lowercarbon, Creandum) signals credibility and runway
  • Small but growing CS team (3 engineers) means your contributions are visible and impactful

Watch Out For: Regular customer travel is required — this suits some but can be draining. The dual pre/post-sales scope is broad; ensure you're energised by both, not just one.

About Enode

The grid was built for predictable, centralised power. Today it's absorbing intermittent supply from grid scale solar and wind, alongside dynamic demand from EVs, heat pumps, and home batteries. The missing piece is software that can connect and orchestrate these devices at scale.

Enode provides the infrastructure layer that makes this possible. Our Connect API gives energy companies a single integration to 1000+ devices across 80+ brands. Our optimisation tooling gives energy companies the building blocks to manage those devices locally — think smart charging for EVs. Our Flex product turns those connected devices into a flexible, controllable asset for energy companies.

We work with device manufacturers across the energy hardware ecosystem — from EV brands to heat pump and solar inverter producers. Our customers are energy retailers, utilities, and traders building the next generation of energy services. We're backed by Y Combinator, Lowercarbon Capital, and Creandum.

The decisions made now will shape how the energy system gets built. We're looking for people who take ownership, move fast, and care deeply about the role technology can play in the energy transition.

What We're Looking For

Enode is looking for a Customer Solutions Engineer to help our customers leverage maximum value from our product and to help shape Enode's Customer Engineering function. In this role you'll interface directly with engineers, product managers, and leadership stakeholders as they integrate Enode's APIs — helping them realise value fast. Beyond the integration phase, Customer Solutions Engineers own the technical relationship with customers and act as an internal advocate throughout their entire journey with Enode. This role operates in both pre-sales and post-sales capacities.

You will be a core part of Enode's Customer Success team, working daily across engineering, product, and sales teams. You will be joining a team of 3 customer solutions engineers and work closely with our Tech Ops Engineer who provides technical support to customers.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Design and help customers implement technical solutions using the Enode API based on their engineering, product, and business needs.

  • Advise customers on technical product architecture and best practices for using the Enode API; provide ongoing technical support including answering technical questions, debugging customer implementations, and resolving/escalating issues.

  • Identify and debug issues in customer implementations, and proactively make necessary fixes and/or improvements directly in the Enode codebase.

  • Act as a champion for new products, features, and company initiatives — using customer discussions and your product expertise to ensure Enode's resources are allocated to high-impact areas.

  • Drive and/or contribute to internal projects (e.g. developer portal experience, Integration Guides, customer analysis, etc.).

This Role Will Be Right for You If:

To succeed at Enode you should be passionate about our mission — excited about electrification and the opportunity to use consumer products and software to solve grid challenges in the transition to a net-zero energy system.

We're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience relevant to customer engineering, such as solutions/sales engineering or being a user-oriented software engineer.

  • An all-rounder who is energised by managing technical client relationships but can also dive into the codebase to make fixes and improvements.

  • Experience deploying complex software in critical infrastructure-like environments, mapping API software to existing enterprise stacks (ERP, CRM, and similar).

  • Experience working with enterprise customers with large IT departments and corresponding work processes and governance mechanisms.

  • An articulate communicator with the ability to explain complex technical issues at the right level for any audience.

  • A nimble operator and team player who can thrive in a dynamic, flat organisation where tasks change frequently.

  • Willingness to travel to customer locations on a regular basis.

  • Nice to have: Experience from a technical role at third-party API companies.

  • Nice to have: Pre-sales experience, supporting RfP processes for enterprise customers.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to join and impact an early-stage climate tech startup with global aspirations as we scale.

  • A mission-driven, fun, and caring environment with high drive and ambition.

  • Competitive compensation, including a very attractive employee option program — you're part of our journey.

  • Access to best-in-class AI tooling; we believe the ceiling on what a small team can achieve has fundamentally shifted.

  • Remote-first in Europe, with the option of attending an office in Oslo or receiving a co-working pass on demand.

  • Three annual off-sites to connect with the team in exciting and fun places.

  • Flexible, human-first culture.

  • Stipend for setting up your home office.

A Few Things to Note

  • Enode is an equal opportunities employer. Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.

  • Our values are integral to the way we work and are embedded into all our hiring processes. You can read more about our values here.

Do I need experience in the energy industry to apply?
Energy industry experience is not listed as a hard requirement. Enode values passion for the energy transition mission, along with 5+ years in customer/solutions engineering or a user-oriented software engineering background.
