Senior Technical Marketing Manager - EV Industry Growth Role in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Market Compensation: The $147,825–$195,500 base salary range is above-market for Technical Marketing Manager roles in the US, where typical ranges fall between $120,000–$165,000. The addition of annual merit-based RSUs at a NYSE-listed company (ChargePoint: CHPT) meaningfully boosts total compensation — a strong signal for candidates weighing offers.
Career Development: This role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and go-to-market — a powerful position for career growth. Skills developed include:
- Technical storytelling and executive-level communication
- EV/clean energy domain expertise (a fast-growing, in-demand sector)
- AI-augmented content workflows — increasingly valued across tech marketing
- Cross-functional influence without direct authority
Green Flags: ChargePoint is an established public company (founded 2007, NYSE-listed), offering more stability than an early-stage startup. Reporting to a VP of Product Marketing and Sales Enablement provides clear visibility and a defined career ladder. The explicit welcome of Solutions Engineers transitioning into marketing is a rare and thoughtful signal of an open, skills-based culture.
Watch Points: The 8–12 year experience requirement for a "Manager" title suggests a senior individual contributor role rather than a people-management position. Candidates seeking to build a team should clarify headcount expectations. Also, ChargePoint has faced revenue headwinds in the EV infrastructure market — worth reviewing recent earnings before committing.
