Staff Escalations Manager at Twilio - Lead & Grow in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Career Level & Market Context
The "Staff / EM4" designation signals a senior individual contributor-to-manager hybrid role — above a typical team lead but without full people-management ownership. At a company of Twilio's scale (publicly traded, thousands of employees), this level typically corresponds to a Senior Manager or Principal equivalent in other orgs, carrying significant strategic and cross-functional weight.
Compensation: Twilio does not disclose a salary band here. For context, senior escalation/support management roles at comparable US-listed tech companies in Spain typically range from €60,000–€90,000/year gross, potentially higher given Twilio's US-headquartered comp philosophy. Research Glassdoor/Levels.fyi for Twilio Spain benchmarks before negotiating.
Skills You'll Build:
- Executive-level communication and incident narrative writing — highly transferable to VP/Director tracks.
- Cross-functional leadership in a global, follow-the-sun support model.
- Proficiency in Tableau, Jira, Zendesk, and OKR-driven project delivery.
- Agile process improvement and scalable team-building — valued in any SaaS operations role.
Green Flags: Twilio's remote-first culture, investment in structured mentoring, and explicit career progression framework (TSE4 → EM4 pathway) suggest a company that promotes from within. The role spans coaching, reporting, project management, and talent acquisition — excellent breadth for future Director-level moves.
Watch For: The role involves significant on-call-style pressure (live de-escalation, incident management). Ensure you clarify on-call expectations and after-hours escalation protocols during the interview process.
