Career & Market Insight

This is a mid-to-senior level integration engineering role (SDE III) at a publicly recognized, large-scale enterprise software company with 550,000+ customers globally. The MuleSoft specialization is niche but highly valued — Salesforce's acquisition of MuleSoft for $6.5B underscores its market importance.

Compensation context: Zone 1 TTC tops out at $255K, which is competitive even for senior engineers in the SF/NYC market. Zone 4 starts at $111K — slightly below the $130–$160K median for senior integration engineers in lower-cost US markets, but the unlimited PTO, 401(k) match, and comprehensive benefits meaningfully add to total value. Note that offers are typically made below the midpoint.

Skills developed in this role:

  • MuleSoft Anypoint Platform expertise — a specialized, high-demand skill with strong job market demand in enterprise IT
  • Enterprise API management, OAuth, SSL, governance policies — foundational for security-focused engineering careers
  • Salesforce ecosystem (CRM, CPQ, SOQL) — broadens marketability across the massive Salesforce partner network
  • ERP/CRM integration patterns — transferable to many enterprise integration roles
  • Technical mentorship — accelerates path toward Staff/Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager roles

Green flags: Transparent tiered compensation, strong learning culture (LinkedIn Learning, O'Reilly, Global Day of Learning), and a distributed team signal a mature remote-first organization. Watch for: The phrase "offers typically made below midpoint" means salary negotiation is important — come prepared with market data. The role is well-scoped for someone targeting a Staff Engineer trajectory within 2–3 years.
