A Genuinely Differentiated PMM Role

Most Senior PMM roles sit in Marketing and run launch playbooks. At Grafana Labs, Product Marketing is embedded in the Product org — a rare structural choice that signals real strategic influence. You'll shape how PMs and engineers think about growth, not just execute campaigns handed down from above. This is a green flag for anyone who wants a seat at the product strategy table.

Compensation vs. Market: The GBP 91,755–110,106 base is competitive to slightly above-market for a Senior PMM in the UK tech sector (market median ~£80,000–95,000 at senior level in London). Add RSUs in a VC-backed, late-stage company (Sequoia, Lightspeed backers) and total compensation could meaningfully exceed base over a 4-year vest.

Skills You'll Build:

  • AI-augmented marketing workflows (ChatGPT, Claude) — a fast-growing, highly marketable skill set
  • Technical product positioning in the observability/cloud-native space — niche but in very high demand
  • Cross-functional influence: teaching PMs and engineers, not just executing alongside them
  • Data-driven lifecycle marketing and competitive strategy

Culture Signals: High autonomy, low ego, outcomes-over-optics — classic signs of a healthy scaling startup. Team size hints suggest a lean PMM org, meaning high ownership but also high exposure to leadership.

Watch for: The explicit note that this role isn't for those seeking "narrow scope" suggests a demanding, fast-moving environment. Strong for ambitious self-starters; potentially overwhelming for those preferring structured roles.

We're scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.

You may not meet every requirement, and that's okay. If this role excites you, we'd love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for an enthusiastic, tech-forward product marketer to grow our Observability products by boldly positioning them and running campaigns to attract, convert, and retain customers. As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will own the messaging and positioning for a broad product area, working closely with product managers and the marketing team to deliver campaigns, content, events, and training that help buyers buy (and sellers sell) our value.

Product Marketing lives within the Product org rather than the Marketing org at Grafana Labs. Rather than purely executing launches or campaigns, we want PMMs to teach product managers and engineers how to think about growth and demand, and to codify product marketing knowledge into AI-forward tools and processes that anyone in the organization can use. For example, we all contribute product information to a shared knowledge base, which we use to generate enablement materials and decks.

This role requires strategic skills, an interest in teaching, and hands-on tactical execution (blogs, webinar outlines, video scripts, etc.). Our team craves impact and independence — if you are seeking a role with narrow scope where you run a defined playbook, this is not the job for you.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Actively partner with and teach product managers to define product value, messaging, and go-to-market strategy, from competitive positioning to sales enablement collateral.
  • Partner with product management, engineering, and various go-to-market functions to create materials that help customers evaluate and adopt our products: reference architectures, implementation guides, detailed product information, and more.
  • Own customer lifecycle campaigns (competitive positioning, retention, upsell/cross-sell) to strategically shape marketing programs and drive growth across the entire customer journey.
  • Conduct market and customer research to understand pain points, competition, and opportunities.
  • Teach go-to-market and sales teams our products' capabilities and the value they provide; deliver training and enablement to ensure customer-facing teams can effectively engage with customers, partners, and prospects.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience (product marketing, solutions marketing, product management)
  • Experience marketing and selling to a technical audience
  • A passion for open source, cloud native, and infrastructure technologies
  • Proven ability to take on complex projects and efficiently drive them from start to finish
  • Ability to clearly articulate the value of technical products to customers and sellers alike
  • Experience leading product or feature launches autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Experience working with AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to automate messaging and workflows
  • Comfort working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in complicated processes
  • Strong product and technical curiosity that translates to clear packaging, positioning, and messaging
  • Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills for analyzing campaign performance, evaluating lifecycle metrics, and making data-driven recommendations
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • A high "say-do" ratio in executing and delivering impact
