Senior Product Designer at Remote - $150K–$168K USD in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Compensation benchmark: The $149,750–$168,500 USD range is competitive for a Senior Product Designer globally, sitting at the high end of market rates (Glassdoor/Levels.fyi benchmarks for Senior Product Designers at well-funded tech companies typically range $130K–$180K USD total comp). Note that Remote applies geo-adjusted pay, so your actual offer depends on your country of residence — candidates in lower cost-of-living markets may see lower offers within this band.
Skills this role develops: Working in a 40+ person design org at a high-growth HRTech unicorn is a strong career signal. You'll build expertise in:
- Complex B2B SaaS design at scale
- AI-assisted prototyping workflows
- Design systems ownership (Norma)
- Cross-functional leadership without formal authority
Green flags: Async culture signals genuine respect for autonomy. A 40+ design team suggests design is taken seriously at the executive level — not an afterthought. The 7-step interview process (including a Bar Raiser) mirrors Amazon's culture of hiring rigor, which typically correlates with stronger teammates.
Potential considerations: The lengthy process (7 stages including a case study and executive interview) requires significant time investment upfront. The geo-adjusted salary model means two designers doing the same work may earn differently based on location — worth clarifying in negotiation.
Career trajectory: Senior IC at a globally recognized remote-work brand is excellent for your portfolio. Reporting to a Design Manager/Senior Design Manager with internal mobility support creates a visible path to Staff Designer or Design Lead roles.

- Persuasive communication skills that help you build strong narratives around your design work, provide direction and guidance to others, and collaborate effectively with peers and stakeholders — with fluent written and spoken English.
- A systems-thinking mindset: comfortable in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, with a work history demonstrating an ability to autonomously take ownership of design for complex domains and/or multiple projects.
- Strong evidence of effective cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering counterparts, building consensus, resolving debates, and driving impactful business outcomes.

- Preference will be given to candidates with experience designing complex B2B SaaS solutions for industries like HRTech, FinTech, etc.

- Experience working remotely is considered a plus, though not required.
Key Responsibilities

- Crafting high-fidelity user interfaces with flair at velocity, expressing your maturity in interaction design and maintaining an exceptional bar for quality while delivering at speed.
- Leading compelling vision initiatives for your team and domain, influencing and visualising the direction-of-travel and opportunities for innovation.
- Solving problems holistically with systems-thinking, understanding the ripple effect of design decisions and ensuring scalability, while avoiding unnecessary variation to information architecture and experiences.
- Communicating persuasively, weaving storytelling narratives around your work to bring peers on the journey with you, while triaging critique and feedback efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborating transparently in the open, proactively sharing your work with the wider organisation to solicit frequent feedback and identify opportunities for cross-domain collaboration.
- Advocating usage of the design system Norma to its best advantage, understanding when to follow it strictly or deviate, improve, and contribute back.
- Championing experience principles by ensuring simplicity, usability, scalability and accessibility in all user experiences delivered.
- Being an active member of cross-functional culture by advocating quality, shaping ways of working, and providing peer support, critique and feedback to others.
