Sr. Director Commercial Ops at Apnimed | Build Pharma Ops in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
Seniority & Compensation: At $270K–$294K annually, this Sr. Director role is well-compensated — slightly above market median for comparable biopharma Sr. Director Commercial Ops roles in the US, which typically range from $220K–$275K. The premium reflects the build-from-scratch responsibility at a pre-launch stage company.
Career Development Signals:
- This is a foundational build role — you will design and own infrastructure that could scale into a much larger organization, which is a rare résumé-defining opportunity.
- Exposure to AI/automation adoption in pharma commercial ops is increasingly marketable as the industry modernizes.
- Skills in MLR workflows, Sunshine Act compliance, 3PL management, and P2P program ops are highly transferable to other mid-size or large biopharma commercialization teams.
Company Stage: Apnimed is pre-launch (AD109 is investigational), which means high upside if commercialization succeeds — but also inherent binary risk. Best suited for professionals who thrive in ambiguity and want equity/impact over stability.
Green Flags: BBJ Best Places to Work 2024 & 2025; virtual-first culture; direct report to VP Commercial Ops; clear scope of ownership.
Red Flags to Watch: 12+ years required experience is a high bar; "build right the first time" language may indicate lean team and stretched resources. Pre-approval commercialization roles carry regulatory uncertainty risk.
Work-Life Balance: Flexible environment, generous PTO, and virtual-first setup are positive signals, but event-heavy logistics roles often require bursts of intense work around congresses and product launch milestones.

Apnimed is committed to innovation, as well as state-of-the-art advancements in sleep medicine, which is leading to the development of a portfolio of novel pharmacologic therapies for sleep apnea and related disorders.
Recognized by the Boston Business Journal as one of the Best Places to Work in both 2024 and 2025, we are continuing to grow and build the foundational operations that enable our employees and our mission to thrive.
