Career & Market Insight

Career trajectory: This is a high-leverage senior individual contributor role at a Series C company processing $12B+ in annual purchase volume. The 12-month progression explicitly targets becoming the internal platform authority and leading AI tool adoption org-wide — a rare chance to own a strategic function at scale.

Skills in high demand: The stack — Kubernetes, AWS, Pulumi (IaC), Python, CI/CD automation, Feature Flags — maps directly to what the market calls "Platform Engineering," one of the fastest-growing specializations in software infrastructure. Adding AI/agentic tooling experience (explicitly expected here) makes this profile exceptionally marketable through 2026 and beyond.

Compensation context: No salary is listed, which is a mild yellow flag for transparency. For a Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer at a well-funded Series C in the US/Canada, market rates typically run $160K–$220K USD annually. The equity package (with an unusually generous 10-year exercise window) adds meaningful upside at RevenueCat's growth stage.

Culture signals — mostly green flags:

  • Values like "Always Be Shipping" and "Own It" align with autonomy-driven engineers.
  • Heavy investment in internal tooling suggests engineering is treated as a first-class product.
  • 150+ person team with 25+ countries indicates genuine distributed-work maturity.
  • On-call starts at month 3 — reasonable ramp time.

Watch for: The on-call commitment isn't fully scoped in the posting. Clarify rotation frequency and incident load before accepting — DevOps on-call at a platform processing $12B/year can be intense.

RevenueCat removes the headaches of building and scaling in-app subscriptions. Since graduating from YC's S18 batch we've grown into the default monetization platform for mobile: we're in >40% of newly shipped subscription apps, we process $12B+ in annual purchase volume, and we help everyone from a solo dev in Brazil to the OpenAI mobile team understand and grow their revenue.

We're a remote-first crew of 150+, spread across 25+ countries, and guided by values we actually practice: Customer Obsession, Always Be Shipping, Own It, and Balance. If you want your work to touch hundreds of millions of end-users (and help the developers behind them get paid), you'll fit right in.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior, proactive DevOps / DevEx Engineer to join our engineering team and help build and scale the internal development platform. You would be building the tools, services, and automation that empower the rest of our engineering team to ship safely and fast.

RevenueCat invests heavily in tooling. We already have custom services for CI/CD, automated one-push-per-commit releases with automatic canaries, Feature Flags, DB query approval workflows, and VPN access workflows. We use Pulumi and Python for IaC to describe Kubernetes services and associated infrastructure in a single place. We want to provide autonomy, build a self-serve culture that allows teams to move fast but ensures safety and best practices.

The advent of AI and agentic development is going to change a lot of things, and you will help shape this future by fostering adoption while ensuring our security and architectural standards remain sound.

Your job is to take all this to the next level.

About You

  • You are a builder: You don't just use tools; you build them. You have 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, DevEx, or Platform Engineering with a heavy emphasis on software development.

  • You are proactive: You see what is needed, you take action, and you own problems to turn them into solutions.

  • You love building frameworks, abstractions, and automation: You believe the best way to ensure best practices are followed is to make something so easy and joyful to use that nobody wants to use anything else.

  • You are AI-curious: You understand how LLMs and AI coding tools are changing engineering and want to help a world-class team leverage them effectively.

  • You move fast, test and iterate quickly.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, IaC, and GitHub

  • Solid knowledge of Python

In the First Month, You'll:

  • Meet your team!

  • Get up to speed on our unique infrastructure-as-code patterns.

  • Familiarize yourself with our existing internal tools for releases, canaries, and access control.

  • Ship your first project — improving an existing tool or automation.

Within the First 3 Months, You'll:

  • Be able to scope and work on tasks self-sufficiently.

  • Understand most of our internal tools and feel confident making changes to them.

  • Start on-call training.

  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and brainstorms.

Within the First 6 Months, You'll:

  • Design and ship major initiatives and have a positive impact on the engineering team.

  • Collaborate closely with other engineers, understand their pain points, and become more involved in roadmap and prioritization of new initiatives.

Within the First 12 Months, You'll:

  • Be the go-to expert for our internal platforms, services, and infrastructure abstractions.

  • Have your own initiatives for improving DevOps and DevEx.

  • Lead AI tool adoption across the engineering org, following well-established patterns for safety and simplicity.
