Career & Market Insight

This Senior Consultant role at NIQ sits at the intersection of data analytics, FMCG strategy, and client consulting — a powerful combination for career growth in consumer goods and market intelligence.

Compensation context: The €35,000–€45,000 range is below the European median for senior consultants with 3+ years of experience (typically €50,000–€65,000+ in Western Europe). For Milan specifically, this is on the lower end given the city's cost of living, though benefits like meal vouchers partially offset this.

Skills you'll build:

  • Revenue Growth Management (RGM) — a highly sought-after capability in FMCG, increasingly important as companies face margin pressure.
  • Advanced pricing and promotion analytics with proprietary NIQ datasets.
  • Executive-level storytelling and consulting communication skills.
  • Exposure to AI-augmented workflows in a data-driven enterprise.

Career trajectory: NIQ is a global leader (100+ markets), so internal mobility to Senior Manager or Director roles, or lateral moves across Spain/Portugal, is plausible. The company's 2023 merger with GfK adds scale and new project types.

Green flags: Transparent salary banding, DEI commitment, LinkedIn Learning, and EAP signal a structured, people-aware culture. Yellow flags: The salary ceiling is modest; ambitious earners may hit a ceiling faster here than at a pure-play strategy consultancy. Fluency in Italian is required, limiting the candidate pool and potentially reducing internal competition.

Job Description

About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Consultant with experience in Revenue Growth Management (RGM) or Category Management within the FMCG sector.

You will work with leading FMCG manufacturers, supporting key decisions on pricing and promotion strategies, with a strong focus on revenue and profitability impact. You will manage RGM projects end-to-end, turning data and analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.

The role is based in Milan, within an international environment, closely connected with NIQ RGM teams across Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Strong English skills are essential. You'll work in a hybrid model, combining remote work with at least one day per week in the Milan office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be part of a regional RGM team supporting FMCG clients to optimize pricing and promotion strategies, mainly for Italian manufacturers, with opportunities to support other Western European markets.
  • Manage RGM projects end-to-end — timelines, coordination with internal expert teams, and client interaction.
  • Partner with commercial and executive client teams, supporting decision-making with clear insights and recommendations.
  • Translate FMCG business needs into tailored RGM outputs, adapting content and messaging to different audiences (RGM, Category, Consumer Insights, Sales, Leadership).
  • Use NIQ data, tools, and PowerPoint to answer business questions through pricing, promotion, and revenue analysis.
  • Convert analytical results into clear, business-focused and actionable presentations.
  • Deliver insights during informal and formal client meetings, both in person and online.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives, supporting team collaboration and NIQ objectives.
  • Possibility to expand expertise and deliver Category Management projects.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role or business area.
  • Solid experience in FMCG, ideally in Revenue Growth Management or Category Management.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, promotions, and revenue drivers.
  • Excellent business relationship and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Italian and English (verbal and written); additional European languages are a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset and numerical skills.
  • Consulting-style communication, with the ability to simplify complex insights and build a clear story.
  • Comfortable working in a digital and data-driven environment, using AI as a work facilitator.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • University degree or equivalent professional experience.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible hybrid working model
  • Volunteer time off
  • LinkedIn Learning access
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for emotional and mental wellbeing
  • Meal Voucher, Life Insurance
  • Salary: €35,000–€45,000 gross per year. Placement within the range will depend on objective criteria including experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. We are committed to equal pay and pay transparency. Remuneration decisions are made using gender-neutral and objective criteria.
