Career & Market Insight

This role sits at a genuinely interesting intersection: deep scientific expertise + customer-facing solutions + an emerging product area (Chemistry). That's a rare combination that can meaningfully differentiate your career in the growing biotech SaaS space.

Career development signals:

  • Working on a new product area from early adoption means high visibility and influence — you'll help shape playbooks from scratch, which is valuable experience for future leadership roles.
  • The cross-functional scope (Product, Sales, Marketing, CX) builds broad business acumen beyond pure science, positioning you well for Principal/Director-level CSM or Solutions Engineering roles.
  • AI fluency is explicitly baked into the culture, which is a green flag — you'll develop skills in applied AI for R&D workflows, a fast-growing niche.

Compensation context: No salary is listed, which is a minor red flag for transparency. For a role requiring 6+ years of lab experience and a preferred PhD, market benchmarks for similar Solutions/Delivery Manager roles at biotech SaaS companies typically range from $120,000 to $165,000 base, often with bonus and equity. Benchling is a well-funded, growth-stage company (Series E), suggesting competitive comp and meaningful equity upside.

Work-life balance: The 3-day in-office expectation is moderate but firm. No mention of unlimited PTO or specific wellness benefits. The role involves ambiguity and urgency — better suited to someone who thrives under dynamic conditions than those seeking structured, predictable work.

Red flags to probe in interviews: No existing playbook or guidance mentioned — confirm whether team support and mentorship exist. Clarify headcount and team structure around this role before accepting.

We are rebuilding biotech for the AI era.

When a breakthrough is delayed, the world waits. Getting a molecule from discovery to patients, or a crop from lab to field, involves thousands of slow, manual, disconnected steps. AI has the potential to change this, compressing decades of R&D work into years. But that only happens when clean, structured scientific data and AI are built into how science gets done.

Benchling is the AI platform for biotech R&D. Scientists use Benchling to design experiments, capture structured data, and run AI agents and models directly in their workflows. Over 200,000 scientists around the world trust Benchling to power their most important work, from academic labs to Sanofi, Moderna, and more than half of the world's top 50 biopharma.

We're building an AI scientist for our customers. We can't do that if we haven't built the muscle ourselves. AI fluency is the foundation we build on; it's core to how we work, and we're committed to helping every new hire integrate it into their day-to-day. As part of our interview process, you'll complete a brief AI-focused exercise or discussion so we can understand how you think about and use AI to drive impact in your role.
