Career & Market Insight

This is a senior individual contributor sales role at a Series B-stage cybersecurity company with a compelling government-adjacent pedigree (U.S. Cyber Command, MIT Lincoln Lab). For experienced enterprise cybersecurity sellers, it represents a high-upside opportunity at a company that still has significant market territory to capture.

Compensation analysis: The $145K–$220K base range is competitive for senior enterprise cybersecurity AE roles in the central U.S. market, where comparable roles at Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, or Darktrace typically range from $130K–$200K base. With performance-based commission on top, OTE could realistically reach $300K+, which is above-market for the region.

Skills you'll develop:

  • Enterprise security sales cycles involving government and military buyers — a rare and highly transferable specialization
  • Complex contract negotiation and Statement of Work development
  • SaaS and hybrid (cloud + on-prem) platform sales in the cybersecurity vertical
  • Strategic territory management across a large geography

Green flags: SimSpace consistently touts internal mobility and promotions above industry benchmarks — a meaningful signal for career growth. Equity grants at hire and annual performance-based equity reviews add long-term upside at a growth-stage company.

Potential watch-out: Early-stage company experience is listed as a requirement, which implies some tolerance for ambiguity, evolving processes, and resource constraints typical of a scaling startup. Best suited for sellers who thrive without a fully mature sales infrastructure.
