Senior BESS Scheduler – $130K Energy Storage Career in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a specialized, high-demand role in the rapidly growing battery energy storage (BESS) sector. Primavera P6 expertise combined with BESS/utility-scale project experience is a narrow but extremely valuable skill set as the energy transition accelerates globally.
Compensation Analysis: The $90,000–$130,000 range is competitive for a mid-to-senior project scheduler in the energy sector. Senior P6 schedulers in the utility/EPC space typically command $95,000–$140,000 in the US, so this range aligns well. Candidates at the upper end should have direct BESS experience and EPC contract knowledge.
Skills developed in this role:
- Advanced Primavera P6 scheduling across full project lifecycle (NTP to COD)
- Critical path and schedule risk analysis — transferable to any large infrastructure sector
- BESS-specific domain expertise (OEM workflows, grid interconnection) — highly marketable as storage capacity expands
- Cross-functional stakeholder communication and claims/change management
Career signals to weigh:
- Green flag: TAKKION operates in a high-growth sector; BESS schedulers are scarce and command strong market leverage.
- Green flag: Portfolio-wide scheduling responsibility builds leadership credentials quickly.
- Yellow flag: Up to 50% travel and extended hours during critical phases may affect work-life balance.
- Yellow flag: Safety-sensitive designation with ongoing drug testing adds compliance obligations.
This role is an excellent step for schedulers looking to specialize in clean energy infrastructure, a field with strong long-term hiring demand.
