Entry-Level Technician Role at Thatchers Cider UK in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This role is an entry-level field technician position — ideal for candidates transitioning into a technical trades career, as no prior experience is required and full training is provided. It sits within the growing UK drinks industry, specifically with Thatchers Cider, a well-established fifth-generation family brand with strong market presence.
Career development signals are positive:
- Structured training on proprietary dispense equipment builds transferable electro-mechanical skills valued across the hospitality and drinks sector.
- Territory ownership from day one builds autonomy, time management and client relationship skills quickly.
- The company is in an active growth phase, suggesting internal promotion opportunities.
Work-life balance considerations: Varying shift patterns and a "flexibility is a must" requirement suggest irregular hours, potentially including evenings or weekends to service licensed premises. This suits candidates who prefer variety over a rigid 9-5, but may not suit those with fixed personal commitments.
Compensation: No salary is disclosed, which is a minor red flag. For this role type in the UK (field service technician, drinks industry), typical salaries range from £24,000–£32,000 depending on experience and territory size. The company van and full equipment provision add meaningful non-cash value.
Green flags: A named, heritage brand employer; genuine training investment; permanent contract from the start. Watch for: confirm shift expectations and weekend working requirements before accepting.
