People Ops Coordinator at Ashby | HR Career Growth in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This People Operations Coordinator role at Ashby is a strong entry-to-mid-level opportunity at a well-funded, fast-growing HR tech SaaS company (Ashby builds recruiting software). Being the second or third People Ops hire at a scaling startup gives outsized exposure compared to a large enterprise coordinator role.
Career development signals are positive:
- You'll own cross-functional processes — onboarding, international entity support, HRIS management — building a broad HR operations skill set that's transferable across industries.
- Experience with modern HRIS tools (Gusto, Remote, Deel) is increasingly in demand as companies expand globally. This is a market-relevant skill set.
- Early-stage People Ops roles at SaaS companies often lead to HRBP, People Programs Manager, or Head of HR paths within 2-4 years.
Compensation: No salary range is listed, which is a mild yellow flag for transparency. For a People Ops Coordinator role in a US SaaS company, market rates typically range from $55,000–$80,000 annually depending on location and experience. Equity is included, which is meaningful at Ashby's growth stage.
Culture green flags: Unlimited PTO with active encouragement to use it, a 10-year option exercise window (rare and employee-friendly), and a people-first stated philosophy. The role explicitly warns against candidates who dislike ambiguity or repetitive work — a sign of honest culture communication.
Watch for: The scope may be heavily execution-focused early on. Candidates seeking strategic HR work should clarify growth trajectory during interviews.
