WordPress & HubSpot Developer at B2B SaaS Agency in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This contract role at SimpleTiger sits at the intersection of web development and digital marketing — a niche that's increasingly in demand as B2B SaaS companies invest heavily in their web presence for SEO and lead generation.
Skills developed: You'll sharpen expertise in WordPress and HubSpot CMS — two of the most widely used platforms in the agency world. HubSpot CMS development in particular is a growing specialization with relatively few experts, giving you a marketable edge. Additional exposure to GA4, GTM, Screaming Frog, and API integrations (Salesforce, Zapier, n8n) rounds out a strong technical marketing toolkit.
Compensation context: No rate is listed, but contract web developers with this skill set typically command $35–$75/hr in the U.S. market. The part-time structure means total earnings will depend on hours negotiated. Developers who prove their value may benefit from the stated growth-into-larger-role potential.
Culture signals: SimpleTiger appears to be a lean, specialized agency. The emphasis on async communication, independent work, and self-management suggests a low-micromanagement environment — a green flag for experienced freelancers. The lack of mention of team size or benefits is typical of small agency contractor arrangements.
Green flags:
- Clear success metrics defined upfront
- Explicit growth potential mentioned
- Async-first, independent work culture
Watch for: No rate disclosed and part-time scope may limit income ceiling unless the role expands as promised.

SimpleTiger is hiring a part-time contract web developer to build, improve, and troubleshoot client websites in WordPress and HubSpot, with the potential to grow into a larger role.
We're a B2B SaaS marketing agency helping software companies grow through SEO, content marketing, paid media, and answer engine optimization (AEO). Our clients' websites are where much of that work comes to life, and we're looking for a developer who can turn ideas into clean, functional pages quickly.
As part of our delivery team, you'll work primarily on client websites, translating designs, campaign concepts, and SEO recommendations into effective web experiences. From building new pages to fixing issues on existing sites, you'll help turn our marketing strategy into work that's ready to launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, update, or troubleshoot client websites in WordPress and HubSpot CMS
- Make technical fixes and improvements to live client sites, with clear details on what was tested, implemented, and performance comparisons using tools like Screaming Frog, PageSpeed Insights, and Lighthouse
- Build and connect forms, lead routing, and simple automations between a site and the client's marketing tools
- Set up and check tracking, like GA4, Google Tag Manager, and HubSpot tracking in tandem with the SEO Manager
- Keep sites fast, accessible, and friendly to SEO (page speed, Core Web Vitals, clean markup, image optimizations, cache lifetime improvements, and so on)
- Write clear and timely notes on what you are actively working on, and any updates pushed live so our team and the client can follow along
Qualifications and Skills
You're a hands-on developer who can build from scratch, troubleshoot existing sites, and make improvements without disrupting what's already working.
Required Skills
- WordPress development: Strong experience with custom themes, child themes, blocks, page builders, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF). You can build a page from the ground up—not just edit an existing one.
- HubSpot CMS development: Strong experience with HubL templates, modules, and themes, including building and troubleshooting pages, forms, and email templates.
- Front-end development: Solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills, with the ability to navigate existing code and understand how changes affect the live site.
- APIs and integrations: Experience working with the HubSpot or WordPress REST APIs, plus CRMs and marketing tools such as Salesforce, Zapier, n8n, Airtable, and Slack.
- Technical audits and fixes: Experience using Screaming Frog to audit WordPress and HubSpot sites, interpret findings, and resolve technical issues.
- Code review and cleanup: Comfort working within WordPress and HubSpot codebases to identify legacy or unused JavaScript and CSS, determine what's still needed, and safely remove what isn't.
- Async communication: Clear, timely written communication, especially through Slack.
- Independent work: Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines, flag blockers early, and keep projects moving without close supervision.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Webflow development and auditing experience, including building a clean CMS structure.
- PHP development experience.
- Previous work at a marketing agency or with B2B SaaS clients.
- Familiarity with SEO and conversion best practices.
- Experience with Git and version control.
What Success Looks Like
Success means delivering clean, reliable development work that helps our team turn marketing plans into live client experiences.
- Designs, campaign concepts, and SEO requests become functional pages in WordPress and HubSpot.
- Technical audit findings lead to practical fixes, with changes tested to avoid breaking existing functionality.
- Legacy and unused code is cleaned up thoughtfully, while essential code and front-end behavior remain intact.
- Forms, templates, and integrations work as intended and support the client's marketing workflows.
- Projects stay on track because you manage your workload, meet agreed deadlines, and raise questions or blockers early.
- Teammates have clear visibility into progress through timely updates and straightforward communication in Slack.
