Full-Cycle Recruiter - Grow Into Head of Talent Role in Columbus
Career & Market Insight
This is a solo or early-stage recruiter role at a small, founder-led CPA and tax firm — a setup that offers high autonomy but also requires significant self-direction. The language around "real ownership" and "not a big corporate job" signals a startup-adjacent culture where you will likely be the entire recruiting function, at least initially.
Career development upside:
- Full-cycle recruiting experience across a niche (tax/accounting professionals) is highly transferable and in demand — CPA and licensed tax professional hiring is a specialized skill set that commands premium rates.
- Building and improving recruiting processes from scratch is excellent experience for anyone aiming toward a Head of Talent or VP of People role.
- Exposure to a founder-led, fast-scaling environment is valuable for future roles at growth-stage companies or PE-backed firms.
Compensation: No salary is disclosed, which is a mild red flag for transparency. Market rates for a full-cycle recruiter with 2+ years of experience in the US typically range from $55,000–$85,000 annually, with senior or specialized roles reaching $90,000+. Candidates should negotiate accordingly.
Green flags: Clear values articulation, defined responsibilities, and emphasis on process improvement suggest structured leadership despite small size. Watch for: The "we work hard, move fast" framing can sometimes indicate boundary challenges — clarify expectations around response times and after-hours availability during interviews.

Do you love the hunt for great talent? Do you want to join a growing team where your work shapes the firm and your career can grow with it?
As our Recruiter, you'll run full-cycle recruiting for open roles across the firm. You'll source, screen, and move candidates through a recruiting process that you'll have a hand in continuing to shape. You'll work in that process every day and help improve it as we learn what works. As the firm scales and the recruiting function matures, you'll have the chance to take on more responsibility, shape new processes, and grow your career here.
Why You'll Love This Role
This is not a big corporate job where you own 5% of the outcome, sit through endless meetings, and wait years for someone to give you more responsibility.
We're a small, fast-growing firm. That means real ownership and a real opportunity to grow with us. We work hard. We move fast. We have fun. And we're building something big.
If you want to become ridiculously good at what you do, take ownership of your work, and help build something you're proud of — keep reading.
What You'll Do
Fill the Roles

- Manage multiple open positions at the same time
- Build and maintain pipelines for roles we haven't posted yet
Own the Screen
- Write job postings and run candidate interviews using our interview guides and screening criteria
- Decide who advances and who doesn't, so leadership only meets candidates worth meeting
- Present well-vetted shortlists with clear recommendations
- Hiring decisions rest with leadership. Your job is to make them easy, fast, and well informed.
Keep Improving It
- Keep candidates informed and follow up consistently throughout the process
- Track key recruiting metrics, like time to fill, source of hire, pipeline health, and offer acceptance
- Share what you learn and suggest improvements to our processes and tools
- Grow with the function as it scales
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 2+ years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience
- Proven sourcing and headhunting experience; you don't rely on inbound applicants

- Strong communication and follow-up skills
Strongly Preferred
- Experience hiring CPAs and/or in the tax industry
