Career & Market Insight

This is a high-stakes, high-reward senior product leadership role at a fast-growing cybersecurity company. Cribl is reportedly one of the fastest-growing private companies in the data/security infrastructure space, making this an opportunity to shape a product portfolio at a pivotal growth stage — pre-IPO or acquisition territory.

Compensation context: The $275K–$310K base salary is at the top quartile for Director of PM roles in the US market, where the median sits around $200K–$240K at comparable-stage companies. Add in equity and bonus, and total compensation could realistically exceed $400K+, which is competitive with FAANG-equivalent Director-level comp.

Career development signals:

  • This is a "0 to 1" portfolio-building role — rare at the Director level and highly valuable for anyone aiming for a VP of Product or CPO trajectory.
  • You'll develop deep expertise in AI-native security products (SOAR, ITDR, UEBA, agentic AI) — among the hottest and most fundable areas in cybersecurity right now.
  • Cross-functional ownership (M&A evaluation, partner strategy, team hiring) is a fast track to an executive role.

Green flags: Explicit scope ambiguity framed as opportunity, remote-first culture, emphasis on written decision-making (async-friendly), and Fortune 100 customer access for portfolio validation.

Potential red flags: The undefined scope could also mean shifting priorities; this role requires someone comfortable with organizational ambiguity. The 10+ year experience bar is high — this is not an entry point into security PM leadership.

Headquarters: Remote - United States

Join the company that's building the telemetry infrastructure for the AI era. At Cribl, we partner with IT and Security teams at many of the world's biggest enterprises, including half of the Fortune 100, to bridge the gap between AI ambition and infrastructure reality. As the AI Platform for Telemetry, we give customers the choice, control, and flexibility to manage and analyze telemetry for both humans and agents, so they can build what's next.

We're one of the fastest-growing private companies and a leading player in a massive, fast-moving market. With a global workforce, we're remote-first and grounded in a simple idea: software is a people business. Cribl is the place where curious, collaborative people can do their best work, grow fast, and bring their full selves to the herd.

Why You'll Love This Role

Cribl just launched Cribl Detect, our SIEM built on the Cribl platform. Detection and response is the foundation. Your job is to figure out what comes next — and then build it.

As Director of Product Management for Security Products, you'll own the next wave of Cribl's security portfolio. You'll evaluate the most promising areas beyond Detect. You'll recommend which ones to pursue and in what order, with a clear case for build, partner, or buy. Then you'll lead what we fund, from the first customer conversations to launch and growth.

We'll be honest: the exact scope isn't fixed yet. That's the point. This role is for a product leader who wants to shape a portfolio, not inherit one — and who has the security depth to make the right calls.

As An Active Member Of Our Team, You Will…

  • Drive the strategy for the next wave of security products — market analysis, customer discovery, competitive landscape, and a clear recommendation on what to do first, second, and not at all.
  • Build the business case for each area — the customer problem, market size, why Cribl can win, build / partner / buy options, and what it takes to get there.
  • Lead execution for what we fund — define the product, write the requirements, set success metrics, and drive delivery with engineering from 0 to 1 and beyond.
  • Make it one platform — make sure new capabilities work natively with Cribl Detect (shared data model, detections, alerts, and workflows), not as a set of separate tools.
  • Spend real time with customers — CISOs, SOC managers, detection engineers, and analysts — and work with design partners to validate direction before we commit.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and technology partners on positioning, packaging, launch, and field enablement.
  • Grow the team — as areas get funded, hire and lead product managers to own them.
  • Represent Cribl security externally with customers, analysts, and at industry events.
  • We are a remote-first company and work happens across many time zones — you may be required to occasionally perform duties outside your standard working hours.

If You've Got It - We Want It

  • 10+ years in product management or a closely related role, with 5+ years building security products.
  • Deep understanding of security operations — SIEM, detection engineering, incident response, and how SOC teams actually work day to day.
  • Hands-on product experience in at least one of: security automation and response (SOAR), identity security (ITDR, UEBA), AI or agentic security, or threat detection and response.
  • A track record of taking a product from 0 to 1 — from problem discovery to a product customers pay for and use.
  • Portfolio-level thinking — you have evaluated new markets, built business cases, and made clear recommendations with incomplete information.
  • Leadership — experience leading or mentoring PMs, and leading through influence across engineering, marketing, and sales.
  • Technical depth to go deep with engineers on data architectures, detection logic, and AI/LLM-based systems.
  • Strong written communication — you write clear strategy docs and PRDs, and you make decisions in writing.
  • Good judgment under uncertainty — you can say "we shouldn't build this" as confidently as "we should."
  • Bonus Points
    • Earlier career experience on a security operations team (SOC, detection engineering, or incident response).
    • Experience with security data platforms, data pipelines, or security data lakes.
    • Experience with partner-led product strategy or M&A evaluation.
    • Familiarity with OCSF, KQL, and MITRE ATT&CK.
    • Experience working with security customers in both the US and Europe.
    • Experience in remote-first, distributed organizations.
    • No fear — speak your mind, share your ideas.
    • Good jokes (or better yet, bad ones).
    • A love for goats.
