Career & Market Insight

Career Trajectory: This is a mid-level in-house recruiting role at a fintech scale-up. With Mercury growing its sales org, this recruiter will gain high-impact, high-volume experience across the full sales funnel (SDRs → AEs → post-sales), which is a highly marketable specialization in tech recruiting.

Compensation vs. Market: At $96,700–$120,900 USD base plus equity, this is competitive for an in-house recruiter with 2–4 years of experience. Industry benchmarks (Radford, Levels.fyi) place mid-level in-house tech recruiters at $90,000–$125,000 in major US markets — Mercury's range is well-aligned, and the RSU/options component adds meaningful upside at a growth-stage fintech.

Skills You'll Build:

  • Full-cycle sales recruiting — one of the most sought-after specializations in talent acquisition
  • Data-driven sourcing using funnel analytics (pass-through rates, time-to-hire)
  • Stakeholder management and hiring manager partnership
  • Process improvement and documentation — a path toward recruiting ops or TA leadership

Culture Signals: Mercury reads as a mid-stage startup (~Series B/C fintech) with structured autonomy — they want someone who can own searches independently but also collaborate. The emphasis on feedback, ambiguity tolerance, and process improvement suggests a maturing but not bureaucratic team.

Green Flags: Equity included, explicit geographic pay transparency, DEI commitments, and growth-stage upside. Watch for: No explicit PTO policy or flexible hours mentioned — worth clarifying in interviews.

Our Sales team is often the first group a founder or business owner talks to at Mercury, and the people who help them as their company grows. Who we hire onto that team shapes how customers experience Mercury.

We're looking for a Sales Recruiter to help build and scale that team. You'll own full-cycle searches across our sales organization, from high-volume roles like Sales Development Representatives to Account Executives and post-sales roles like Relationship Managers and Account Development. You'll work closely with hiring managers and senior recruiters, run searches end to end, and help improve how our recruiting team operates as we grow.

This role is a good fit for someone who is organized, proactive, and comfortable owning their work. You should enjoy learning a new business quickly, work well with autonomy, and care about giving every candidate a thoughtful experience.

What You'll Do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for Account Executive, Sales Development, Relationship Manager, and Account Development roles, from sourcing to close
  • Run kickoffs and calibration sessions with hiring managers to define what a strong candidate looks like, and adjust the search as you learn
  • Identify and engage strong candidates through sourcing and inbound channels, using funnel data to decide where to spend your time
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders on pipeline health, progress, blockers, and recruiting timeline
  • Represent Mercury to candidates, sharing our mission, culture, and what it's like to join a growing sales organization
  • Spot opportunities to improve recruiting processes, tools, and documentation, and share them with the team
  • Manage offers and closing for your searches

What You'll Need

  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including at least 1 year in-house, ideally with sales roles such as account executives, SDRs, or account management
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with experience managing several searches at once, including at least one high-volume role
  • Strong sourcing skills and ability to write compelling outreach
  • Ability to work with recruiting data, such as pass-through rates and time to hire, to track your searches and spot where they're getting stuck
  • Experience building strong relationships with hiring managers, including giving clear feedback and pushing back when needed
  • Experience independently managing searches end to end, and knowing when to ask for help
  • Comfort with some ambiguity, and a habit of seeking out feedback and applying it

Nice to Have

  • Experience recruiting at a fintech, SaaS, or high-growth startup
  • Familiarity with Greenhouse, Gem, or similar recruiting tools
