Career & Market Insight

This is a 1099 contract, part-time position — meaning no employee benefits, no paid time off, and no employer-sponsored health insurance. For PMHNPs weighing this against salaried telehealth roles (typically $120,000–$160,000 annually), the $73–$160/hr rate is competitive, but income depends entirely on caseload, payer mix, and availability.

Green flags:

  • UpLift handles credentialing and insurance enrollment — a significant administrative burden removed from the clinician.
  • Collaborative model with therapists supports integrated care — a growing evidence-based standard that looks strong on a clinical CV.
  • Exposure to a technology-forward telehealth platform and feedback loops with engineering teams can build rare hybrid clinical-tech skills.
  • Flexible scheduling makes this an excellent supplemental income stream alongside a primary salaried role.

Yellow/Red flags:

  • No guaranteed hours or income — entirely variable based on patient volume and payer reimbursement.
  • "Estimated" earnings language is heavily caveated; actual take-home may be lower depending on state, payer, and utilization of add-on CPT codes.
  • No benefits, PTO, or malpractice coverage mentioned — verify whether UpLift provides malpractice insurance or if you must source your own.

Best suited for experienced PMHNPs seeking scheduling autonomy, supplemental income, or a transition into telehealth practice.

UpLift – Redefining Access to Mental Healthcare

At UpLift, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health — and we're rethinking the mental healthcare model. UpLift is a multi-sided marketplace, applying technology to empower patients to find Therapists and Psychiatric providers covered by their insurance plan.

While 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health issues, only 40% of this group received care in the last year. At the same time, only 30% of therapists accept insurance. UpLift acts as the bridge between patient, provider, and insurer — empowering patients to find the best care for their needs at a price they can afford.

Why Join UpLift

  • Estimated Effective Hourly Earnings*: Earnings between $73 to $160 per hour, based on a 60-minute session assumption that includes a combination of patient visits and hourly equivalent CPT codes. Compensation for CPT codes can vary based on clinician's license and state of licensure.

  • Collaborative model: Work hand-in-hand with UpLift's network of licensed therapists to deliver world-class, evidence-based care.

*Estimated effective hourly earnings are for licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and are illustrative estimates derived from modeled assumptions, not a guaranteed hourly rate, wage, or salary. These estimates are calculated using assumptions regarding number of completed visits per hour, CPT code mix, and utilization of add-on codes (such as 90833) when clinically appropriate and properly documented. Actual earnings vary and are dependent on individual clinical decisions, case mix, scheduling availability, payer reimbursement, licensure, and geographic market factors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a full-time employee position or a contract role?
This is a part-time, 1099 independent contractor position — not a salaried employee role. You will not receive employee benefits such as health insurance or paid time off.
Can I work completely remotely from any location?
The role is 100% remote and conducted via telemedicine. However, you must hold an active US medical license and can only treat patients in states where you are licensed, which may limit true location independence.
How much can I expect to earn as a PMHNP with UpLift?
Estimated effective hourly earnings range from $73 to $160 per hour based on modeled assumptions, but actual earnings vary based on clinical decisions, scheduling, payer reimbursement, and your state of licensure. These are estimates, not guaranteed rates.
Does UpLift handle credentialing and insurance enrollment?
Yes — UpLift manages credentialing and enrollment with multiple health plans on your behalf, so you can focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.
What licenses or certifications are required to apply?
You must be a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with at least one year of experience and an active medical license in good standing. Multiple state licenses and additional language fluency are considered strong advantages.
