Career & Market Insight

This is a high-impact, senior-level capital project management role in one of the most technically demanding sectors: advanced nuclear power generation. For the right candidate, it represents a rare career opportunity at the frontier of the clean energy transition.

Compensation: The $160,000–$220,000 base salary plus bonus is competitive and aligns with senior PM roles ($150K–$230K) in large-scale energy and infrastructure. Nuclear sector premiums typically add 10–20% above comparable oil & gas or renewables PM roles, reflecting the specialized compliance and regulatory environment.

Skills You'll Develop:

  • Advanced nuclear licensing and regulatory affairs coordination (NRC, 10 CFR compliance contexts)
  • EPC contract management and owner-side project controls at $100M+ scale
  • Earned value management (EVM) and Oracle Primavera P6 proficiency
  • First-of-a-kind (FOAK) technology deployment — a highly transferable, differentiated skill

Career Signals: Elementl Power is a growth-stage company building its PMO, meaning early hires will have disproportionate influence on how the organization scales. This is a green flag for career builders who want ownership, not just execution. The reporting line directly to VP, PMO with proximity to Project Directors signals real visibility.

Watch For: FOAK nuclear projects carry inherent schedule and cost uncertainty. Candidates should be comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch. PMP certification is preferred but not required — a signal the company values demonstrated results over credentials alone.

The Opportunity

We're excited to add a Project Manager to our growing Project Management Office (PMO). This is an owner-side project delivery role responsible for managing the planning, performance, and integration of complex scopes of work supporting the development and delivery of utility-scale advanced nuclear power generation projects.

The Project Manager reports directly to the VP, PMO and works under the project direction of the Project Director when assigned to a project. The Project Director is accountable for overall project delivery, while the Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution, performance, and integration of assigned project scope within established governance and delegated authority.

Initially, this role will have significant responsibility for managing and integrating Elementl's Nuclear Licensing plus EPC ("L+EPC") and nuclear technology Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) scopes. As the number of projects and the organization grows, responsibilities may not be limited to a single project.

We're looking for someone who knows what it takes to make capital projects succeed. You'll work across Engineering, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Project Controls, contractors, consultants, and technology partners. You bring strong technical acumen, substantial capital project delivery experience, and the ability to critically evaluate project information, challenge assumptions, and recognize technical, commercial, and execution risks.

This is also an opportunity to help shape how Elementl delivers projects. Our PMO and project delivery systems are continuing to mature, and this role will help strengthen the procedures, tools, and governance as we scale. This is primarily a project delivery role — we are looking for someone who seeks a position accountable for project execution, not just the process around it.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the planning, integration, and execution of assigned project scope from authorization through completion.
  • Manage performance against approved scope, schedule, budget, and project objectives; identify deviations and risks early; and drive corrective actions or recovery/mitigation plans when needed.
  • Coordinate across Engineering, Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Environmental, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Project Controls, construction, operations, and other functional teams to ensure project activities, deliverables, decisions, and dependencies remain aligned.
  • Hold functional work scope leads accountable for commitments, deliverables, actions, and required decisions, while working within established functional responsibilities and decision rights.
  • Manage owner-side interfaces with L+EPC/EPC contractor(s), nuclear technology OEMs, consultants, suppliers, and other project delivery partners.
  • Coordinate with functional leads and Quality to monitor compliance with applicable QA/QC requirements and approved quality plans. Identify and drive resolution of quality issues affecting contractor performance, deliverables, schedule, cost, or project execution.
  • Understand applicable project agreements, deliverables, milestones, and contractor obligations; monitor contractor performance against those requirements; and manage associated Owner responsibilities and interfaces.
  • Engage with Contracts, Procurement, and Legal on contractual issues, changes, notices, claims, and commercial matters.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to establish executable plans and maintain alignment between project scope and the integrated schedule, budget, forecast, and change-control processes.
  • Review cost and schedule performance with Project Controls. Understand the drivers behind variances and forecast changes, and lead development and execution of corrective or recovery actions.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities within assigned scope. Drive mitigation actions and escalate material risks or decisions when they exceed delegated authority.
  • Coordinate with project workstream functional leads to ensure deliverables receive the required technical review, are complete for their intended use and maturity, and are appropriately reviewed and accepted.
  • Drive readiness for applicable project stage gates and governance decisions within assigned scope, including completion of required deliverables, risk-reduction activities, and supporting information.
  • Ensure project actions and decisions are documented and project information and records are managed in accordance with Elementl requirements.
  • Provide clear, concise project reporting to the Project Director and leadership, including performance, risks, decisions needed, emerging issues, and recommended actions.
  • Exercise delegated project authority and make timely decisions within that authority. Escalate issues early when decisions, risks, cost, schedule, or commercial impacts exceed assigned authority.
  • Help develop and continuously improve Elementl's project management procedures, tools, templates, governance, and execution practices based on lessons learned from active projects.

Requirements

What We're Looking For & Who You Are

  • 10+ years of relevant experience managing complex capital projects or significant scopes within larger projects, preferably valued at $100 million or more, with demonstrated responsibility for project execution and delivery.
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field is required. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, change, and performance, with measurable results in meeting project objectives and resolving significant delivery challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external contractors and coordinating multidisciplinary internal teams to deliver complex project scopes.
  • Experience managing major EPC, engineering, equipment supply, consulting, or similar project scopes, including contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, contractor performance, and commercial interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and managing project risks, issues, and changes, including developing and executing mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software and project controls systems.
  • Experience coordinating complex technical, commercial, regulatory, and construction interfaces, recognizing how functional dependencies and decisions affect project execution.
  • Comfort holding contractors and internal teams accountable for commitments while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Ability to operate effectively with incomplete information, establish structure and priorities, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly with senior leadership, engineers, contractors, and external partners.

It Would Be Great If...

  • You have experience delivering combined-cycle, nuclear, or other major power-generation projects as a project manager.
  • You have worked for an owner/developer, EPC contractor, major engineering firm, nuclear technology or combined-cycle gas OEM equipment supplier, or other organization responsible for delivering large capital projects.
  • You have nuclear project experience or familiarity with nuclear quality, licensing, regulatory, or configuration-management environments.
  • You have worked on first-of-a-kind or rapidly developing projects where plans, organizations, and delivery systems were being built while execution was already underway.
  • You hold a PMP or equivalent project management credential.

Travel to the work site is expected and this role will primarily be based at the project site after mobilization. Per diem and/or travel expenses will be provided. Eligibility will be determined by a site-specific policy ahead of site mobilization.

The salary for this role is $160,000–$220,000 annually and includes a bonus opportunity.
